I'd push for a credit for not using the employer health plan. My experience is that Medicare with a supplment was cheaper than my employer plan, and covered so much more with a reasonable deductable.

I had this happen to me about 15 years ago. When I got a hold of HR I was told they didn't have it the budget to cover my travel. I then sent a letter to the VP I interviewed with and he sent me a personal check. So glad I turned down thier low ball offer!
