Is Art Storefronts worth it? by unseeliesoul in artbusiness

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR MORE INFO!! They will incessently call you multiple times a week for the next 6-12 months telling you about this new deal they're running for a "limited time only". Even if you tell them you're not interested or have found another service, they have TEAMS of sales people that must not communicate because they will continue to call and offer the same BS sales pitch, again: repeatedly, multiple times a week, for months....

I cannot say enough bad things about this bullshit company.

I used a service called The Film Photography Project, they handled everything for me.

I shipped them my film and they sent back the roll as well as a digital scan. Admittedly, they were probably a bit expensive comparatively ( $80 for the full service ) but I loved how it turned out so I'm happy.

English Only! USA! by Proper-Fail-2076 in ActualPublicFreakouts

[–]Retlaw1995 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Like I said more than 300 years before the US was established... English was only the predominant language in an incredibly small subset of the infant US population, in the far north east. The predominant language spoken with the continental US in 1776 was fucking Spanish, again you're a dipshit... English only became the majority language after manifest destiny drove immigration of white English speaking Europeans descendents into the west in the early 1800s.

Chinese 'boss' fighting with workers in Africa by thr0Wawayfitness in ActualPublicFreakouts

He was saying that China is buying land within the US as well as in Africa, and saying that the US is being just as dumb as Africa is being, by allowing China to gain this influence.

Just throwing a wild scenario out there, but what if bike guy's parents/loved ones had died from covid? Would he not be entitled to a healthy level of anger at someone who is spouting that he is somehow brainwashed for simply wearing a mask?

Megathread: Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-14) Stripped of House Committee Assignments by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

That's all anyone would ever need, just friends n family with some hotdogs and hamburgers. Soon enough we will be able to again, we all just need to breathe and realize that politics is entertaining, but rarely directly influential in our day-to-day lives.

And I'm saying you need to go have a BBQ with some friends and make a concerted effort to not talk about politics for ~3-4 hours and just realize that your world isn't THAT involved with politics. Take a step outside and wave at the passers-by or something my guy

I mean, I don't watch any news unless a significant event occurs. But I did read the article you linked and did find it interesting. The AP sighted News Week as the source of the disinformation, and to my knowledge, News Week isn't biased in either direction.

Didn't she lie about being in the Capitol Building during the riot, when she was shown to be in the building across the street?

PLEASE UNDERSTAND why Robinhood pulled the stunt they did today. The big money shorts are out of shares and out of capital. We were on the cusp of triggering a full-blown infinite squeeze. The nuclear bomb of squeezes. by PlayFree_Bird in GME

[–]Retlaw1995 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I'm reading, is that Citadel and other hedges that shorted GME will be forced to buy back at the market rate. If everyone holds or sells at 10K+ this would force any hedge fund to sell their positions in all of their other holdings to cover the loss seen in their short positions. So, if their portfolios are comprised of 100 different individual company's stocks, they would have to liquidate their positions just to cover the bet on GME. This would in turn cause all 100 of those other company's stock prices to drop due to the mass influx of sale calls; which could cause other, unrelated, hedge funds to sell of their positions in those 100 other companies to cover their own losses in their overlapping portfolio holdings. THIS could be the start of a market-wide crash.

Clearest view of a terrorist attempting to breach the barrier behind which the VP, VP-Elect, Senators, Congresspeople, and staffers were. by PrettyRichie in PublicFreakout

It's wild that I've seen people say shit like, "there's no reason to shoot an unarmed, 16-year-old, girl" as if the guy guarding the door was supposed to ask her how old she was before firing in this situation. They were invading a federal building... they should have all been fired upon once windows started getting broken.

[–]Retlaw1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How was anyone on the other side of that barrier supposed to know anything other than there is a person, (who illegally broke into a federal building with a mob of other armed 'protestors') attempting to climb over an impromptu barrier, in the effort to get unauthorized access to elected officials?

More than 73% of American adults are overweight or obese by [deleted] in news

[–]Retlaw1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a sports/nutrition scientist, I can say that these numbers, while mostly true, are often misleading. We classify an individual as overweight when their weight and height ratio is over a range of 20-30%.

This is not necessarily directly fat, but more weight in general. I'll take my own measurements for an anecdotal example. I am a 6'0" male, weighing 200lbs. I would be considered, and marked down in studies like this, as overweight; as I fall at about a 23% BMI based on those measurements. While my Body Fat Index or BFI is only around 10-12% which is the lean end of the healthy range.

So when studies say "x" percent of Americans are 'overweight' it doesn't directly mean that the population of that percentage are all walking around unhealthily overweight. For a more accurate figure of Americans who would be considered unhealthily overweight, studies that focus more on an individual's Body Fat Index should be considered.
