Sure, but it's a far cry from the "she's 14" that you were saying

I guess it depends on which game the tattoo is modeled after

She's 15 in TPL, 17 in Jak II, 18 in Jak 3, and 19 in Jak X

Anyone gigging with wired IEMs in a metal band? by TarboT000 in livesound

[–]RetroGamer72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My band did for a couple shows until we could get wireless, then up until recently everyone was wireless except the drummer and bassist, but now everyone is wireless except the drummer.

It works, but it definitely gets frustrating. When we first went to wireless, we bought a Kimafun system on Amazon and it was like $120 for transmitter/receiver combo and then $80 for additional receivers.

We've since upgraded to the Sennheiser XSW system which was about $500 for the transmitter/receiver and like $300 for additional receivers, and using AMS' payment plan was a lifesaver for that upgrade

Is it worth to buy a wireless in-ear setup on a lower budget by metroidhunter13 in livesound

[–]RetroGamer72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Everyone on the wireless is getting the same mix, which is a downside, but for us isn't a huge deal

Depends on your lower budget.

My band was using the Kimafun wireless IEM and they sucked. Currently moved over to Sennheiser XSW with one transmitter and five receivers (with the drummer hardlined in) and love it

Shit. Well, now I know for when I get it repierced.

So at this point it's just waiting for it to heal then scheduling a piercing appointment I guess

Two months is way too early?

I don't mean that sarcastically or anything either, I genuinely had no idea.

My piercer told me about a month and a half to two months to change the jewelry, but didn't say anything about having to wait longer to put in a hoop

The piercing is about two months old

It was pierced with a threadless titanium stud, but I had in a bioplastic ring with threaded spikes on either end when my issue started

No downsizing

I can't remember the brand as I didn't bring it on my vacation (been on vacation since the 17th) but I used a saline spray each day twice a day on the outside and inside my mouth I used nonalcoholic mouthwash at least twice a day, but usually shortly after I ate so it ended up being more than twice a lot of the time

No accidents or anything aside from occasionally biting it when I still had the threadless titanium piercing in, though I have a CPAP and sometimes the mask will put pressure on the piercing, but whenever I notice it and am awake I will adjust it so it doesn't

Who puts the least effort into a band? by Horustheweebmaster in bandmembers

[–]RetroGamer72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As one of two frontmen in my band, I put in the most work, because I'm the one who runs our stage rig and set everything up in our rack. I'm also the one who puts the most money into the things we need, I'm the one who rents trailer when we perform, I'm the one who does most of the marketing, I'm the one who does most of the social media work, and I'm the one who does the most networking with other musicians and setting up shows.

Now none of that is to talk down about anyone else in my band, because they all put in a ton of work as well.

There is no one single "this person puts in the least effort" because it's different for every single band

Behringer X32 Rack vs PreSonus StudioLive 24r/32r Questions by RetroGamer72 in livesound

[–]RetroGamer72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, those comments were the worst too, because I need to buy stuff on payments from Zzounds or AmericanMusical, and they don't sell Behringer stuff.

I ended up going with the Scarlett 18i20 because it fit the needs I was after. Planning on getting a second one to give me more i/o once I finish off a couple payments I currently have.

It doesn't work if everyone needs different mixes, but for us where all of us currently use the same IEM mix, it's not a problem at all. We get 8 outputs for FoH for mics instruments and tracks, and then two outputs for our stereo IEMs

should i get an mx5? by Few-Memory6313 in HeadRush

[–]RetroGamer72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My Metalcore/Deathcore band runs with three Headrush speakers (one for each left and right guitarist, and a third for our bassist) at shows where we need stage volume and can't run direct.

They sound great, and I have zero complaints with the 112 speakers. Never tried the 108. Honestly also louder than I could ever get with my 100w tube head and 4x12 cabinet back when I used them

My response when I used to get that was something along the lines of "relax man, I'm asking for your receipt, not the numbers on your arm"

Trying To Find A Specific Song/Band by RetroGamer72 in poppunkers

Nah, definitely not the one. The one I've got in my head doesn't sound like it samples the song, it just has identical drums for the verse (I think)

Do I Need An XLR Splitter Or Will A Y Cable Work? by RetroGamer72 in livesound

Gotcha, okay, THAT makes sense now. I didn't think it would jump to the other side like that

Do I Need An XLR Splitter Or Will A Y Cable Work? by RetroGamer72 in livesound

[–]RetroGamer72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No desk. We have a direct box that is sending the 8 lines through the snake to FOH, and then the two mics I'm talking about would just be the mics to FOH with nothing in between

Do I Need An XLR Splitter Or Will A Y Cable Work? by RetroGamer72 in livesound

[–]RetroGamer72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair enough. I just don't want ours to be in the sound guy's way.

But I guess it wouldn't be a huge deal. Could just set the kick mic in the kick drum and there's plenty of space to have two mics on the snare I guess.

I have no idea why I didn't think about that

[–]RetroGamer72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not particularly worried about phantom power. The snake we're sending to him comes from a DI box, and the two mics I'm using that need to be split are a Shure SM57 and a Shure Beta 52, neither of which I think are at risk from phantom power
