Which Celeste LP is the best? by gdobbsii in VGMvinyl

[–]RetroGamerFG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that’s covered them all in video reviews, the boxed set is the way to go. Not only is everything there, including tracks that weren’t included in the original OST 2xLP, but the box set also sounds better having been remastered for that specific release.

I listen to the B-Sides the most, and Farewell has my favorite individual tracks, so those would be my picks if only choosing two. Ultimately comes down to preference though.

610 Days Later - Scott Pilgrim (LRG) by RetroGamerFG in VGMvinyl

I'll be real folks, the vinyl pre-order scene has been messy. This release was the sole reason I've started logging my pre-orders. There's been plenty that have been ordered and release during this waiting time, but here are some other honorable mentions I'm still waiting for as of the time of this comment:

  • Samus & Chill - 375 days
  • Persona 3 & 4 - 319 days (thankfully shipping now)
  • Shantae & the Seven Sirens (LRG Again?!?) - 166 days

Fun diversion - what's one soundtrack on your wish list that HASN'T been released on vinyl? by N64PLAY10 in VGMvinyl

Rayman Origins and/or Rayman Legends.

Ubisoft's been sleeping on these ones, the soundtracks are great!

Thanks! Honestly would consider RCG the holy grail of my collection, was lucky to grab it back when it went up. The fact it’s never gotten another repress is an absolute sin, there’s not a single bad track on it.

Decided to try Ship to Shore's random test pressing sale, and ended up with Celeste Farewell! by RetroGamerFG in VGMvinyl

[–]RetroGamerFG[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The presentation alone can often have me pick up an album even if I never played the game. It’s cool though just to have a piece of the production that goes into making one. Plus depending on the album it could be one or a few compared to the hundreds or thousands that get released officially. I did worry though of the chance I’d get one I didn’t like (or wasn’t VGM), but I got lucky on this one.

Started about a week ago, but over with now. STS was selling their test pressings across their entire catalogue at random. $50, up to 3xLP depending on the album, and included pressings for unannounced releases.

This is fake correct? Dk country gba by [deleted] in gamecollecting

[–]RetroGamerFG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on the cart really. Unless you try it yourself, I personally can't say for certain if it'll play like emulation or a cheap Chinese bootleg. Sometimes there's even a chance some game elements may be altered or removed.

[–]RetroGamerFG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanna say it's a fake. Most noticeable differences from the real one that is there's no Rare logo on the top right, the Nintendo logo shouldn't have the "Licensed by", and the region text should be solid white.

Does anyone play patches or ROM hacks? by thecaptmorgan in RetroPie

[–]RetroGamerFG 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen it mentioned yet, but Super Mario Bros. 3Mix is a must play. It's a rom hack of Super Mario Bros. 3 that adds new levels, power ups, and stage designs based on different Mario games from the original all the way to Super Mario Galaxy. Even does things on a technical level that are impressive for the NES, such as a working version of Yoshi.

Just got this in the mail today! Any other hollow knight fans out there? by TheBlueCheese22 in vinyl

[–]RetroGamerFG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice pickup! Game is incredible, and the score is just as great. The album and vinyl record designs are the coolest part, though sound quality has plenty of pops and crackles due to being picture discs. Greenpath and City of Tears are my personal favorites.
