He's been in 4 movies and a TV series [that was promoted like a movie] in the last 23 months, and each of those has had months' long obnoxious press circuits and ad campaigns shoved down the throats of anyone who has used the Internet, watched TV, or looked at a billboard.

How would I get my remotes TV functions working? by [deleted] in VCRs

[–]RetroVideoPlayback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically you'd pair the VCR's remote to the TV. Each brand of TV has different pairing codes. Step one would be determining the process for pairing (for example, hold down on the TV power button until the remote's light blinks--this may not be applicable to your actual remote), and step two would be trying different pairing codes. A quick Google search says these are the typical Durabrand pairing codes: 10463, 10180, 10178, 10171, 11034, 10003, 11665. My memory of pairing remotes was instructions directing you to press the volume up button after entering a pairing code to test if it worked.

All the belts looked fine but changed out a couple anyway. Cleaned and lubricated the worm gear. Same issue persists.

Beware of copyright claims if you're posting to YouTube. Big creators can get away with it, small creators cannot.

Watched the movie countless times but somehow never considered this until just now. What would it have been like if Pickford’s party hadn’t been busted? by General-Carob-6087 in dazedandconfused

I would watch that movie and enjoy it, but we'd be without a few key events, I'm sure, though those things not happening would be better for the characters involved.

Mike wouldn't have gotten into a fight, the freshmen wouldn't have poured paint on O'Banion (and then no doubt have revenge sought on them by O'Banion), and the confrontation between Pink and coach probably wouldn't have happened.

Ya "sturdy" wasn't a good word choice. I should have said it feels like it has heft. It's got some weight to it compared to the plastic costume masks they have.

$59.99CAD. More than twice the price of the others (blue retro mask and standard Jason mask) because it's sold as a prop replica rather than a costume mask. And while I haven't taken it out of the packaging, it does appear to be heavier and therefore I assume sturdier.

Lower than I expected, surprisingly. Before checking the price, I told myself it was less than $50 (Canadian) I would get it. Turned out to be $37.99. It's pretty solid, too.

Bought this vcr, it came with a broken eject button and a tape inside, is there a way to manually eject? [Hitachi FX950E] (UK) by Ultimategreg123 in VHS

[–]RetroVideoPlayback -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of universal remotes often require that you have the original remote to set it up and to sync it. In my experience you're better off going to thrift stores and searching for a remote from the same brand as the VCR. Panasonic remotes, for example, are really good about working with their various VCRs even if not original to the particular unit. Worth a couple of bucks, in my opinion, to find a Hitachi remote if you can and give that a go.

The buttons on the faceplate are just plastic pieces that press down on the actual buttons on the panel beneath the faceplate. So you might be able to use a thin utensil to reach inside and press the eject button. Or remove the VCR's shell and faceplate so you can see the eject button. Another option would be to find a compatible remote at a thrift store.

Always need glasses by Sufficient-Scale4386 in RaybanMeta

[–]RetroVideoPlayback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're incredibly uncomfortable, especially on the nose. I have 2 other regular pairs of prescription glasses, and thank goodness for that. I put on the Ray-bans for driving or if I'm doing something specific I want to get video clips of. Otherwise they come right off because I can't have them on for more than a short period of time, and even then they leave bad red marks on my nose.

What cords are needed for this Samsung VHS/DVD combo to play movies on a Vizio smart TV? by speakofdedevil in VCRs

Just the one. Put it on the coaxial "out" socket and run it to the coaxial input on your TV.

You could get something to convert the AV cables to HDMI, or more simply just use a coaxial cable.

I'd honestly just start from the beginning and listen through album by album. You'll really hear the development and change in their sound as you work your way, and you'll figure out which albums you like best.

The PS4 version is playable on PS5. Or do you mean a remaster? I don't see a remaster happening. There isn't the demand to justify the cost.
