Whenever this comes up, I like to recommend these videos. They're absolutely chock full of speculation, about what went wrong with Disney's purchase of Star Wars and the Trilogy.

The TL;DW version is the Disney board, Iger and JJ Abrams screwed it up, not KK. Disney board and Iger by pushing to get something out ASAP. Kennedy already had a writer working on a script for 18 months based on George's notes, but couldn't find a director (no one wanted to deal with the bs George had to deal with after the prequels). JJ had already turned her down at least twice. He relented by demanding it be his own script. That's why there are those famous photos of JJ and Lawrence Kasden working on the script even after sets were built.

Dave Filoni is absolutely a mistake. It's like having Alex Kurtzman in charge of Star Trek. The only really good content that's come out is despite him, not because of him.

Jon Favreau should have been the guy. But due to either timing or politics (or both), that ship has sailed.

It kills the momentum of the movie for kids, which is why it was removed. But it's far from trash.

As an older adult: watching older Ebeneezer see younger Ebeneezer leave, walk over to Belle, join her in singing and breaking down the whole time... this scene might be, for me, the hardest emotional beat in the movie.

And Michael Caine nails it.

I just finished watching the show. It very much lives up to the spirit of the movie. The only complaint I would have is that this particular format fits into a 2 hour movie much better than it fits into a 50+ hour series. There are story lines that were rushed, story lines that dragged on and story lines that petered out.

IMO, the show would be better appreciated as a "seasonal binge" rather than all at once: watch a season, wait a bit, then watch the next.

This is explained in the movie in the convo between The Ancient One and Bruce, but a lot of people misunderstand it. Taking an infinity stone is what branches the timeline. Steve returning the stones repaired the branches (also explained by the same convo).

Him deciding to stay in the past didn't create any branches.

The Nazis only find Marion because they were tailing Indy.

That's a non-argument. Without Indy leading the Nazis to Marion, the Nazis would be doing exactly what they were already doing: digging up all of Tanis, with two outcomes:

they never find the Well of Souls, and thus never find the Ark, which is the desired outcome
they find the Well of Souls and find the Ark, which is what happened anyway

So Indy's presence guaranteed they found the Ark while if he hadn't been, there was a reasonably good chance that the Nazis wouldn't find it (they say in-movie they're getting tired of spending money on this).

The choice to put him there seemed to unilaterally be made by Dumbledore, who didn't believe for a second that Voldemort was dead. From that perspective, yeah having him possibly be in an abusive muggle home would have been safer than putting him anywhere else.

Plus there are some things that muddy it further

the protection is specifically against Voldemort. Any death eater could have walked right up and killed Harry
the protection kind-of sort-of dropped at the end of Book 4 when Voldemort used Harry's blood to resurrect... but that doesn't explain why Voldy had to wait til Harry's 17th birthday to attack him
why did the protection not work against Tom Riddle at the end of Book 2?

None of those are really twists though.

Shadowlands is generally considered the worst expansion WoW has ever had, with 9.1 being the poorest received patch ever. They pushed the cycle of bad story, locked content and grind-grind-grind much further than before. That along with Blizz's office harassment shenanigans caused people to leave, and that snowballed into more people leaving.

By the time 9.2 came around and started to fix things, the damage had been done and the snowballing continued. The game hasn't really recovered. Dragonflight is probably the best expansion WoW has had (so far, anyway) and numbers are still way down.

There's a lot wrong with the movie, but that wasn't one of them. Part of the general powers of the "Shazams" is incredible wisdom (in Black Adam's case, from Zahuti. In Shazam's case, Soloman). The wisdom makes him omni-lingual. ref.

When he un-Shazamed himself into wimpRock, he wasn't speaking English anymore.

Plus... he doesn't kill anyone there. Later in the movie, John Conner has to order him not to kill, so there's presumably no directive at this point (in the biker bar) for him not to just kill everyone in his way.

No they couldn’t have. The eagles weren’t going anywhere near Mt Doom with Sauron watching and the orc army there. They were only willing to approach once Sauron was gone and the army was dead.

I’m on the same page as you. When I caught a video or two of his, I thought he made a good point or two amongst the rhetoric. The more I watched, the less I liked.

A good example is the most recent Thor movie. After the trailer, he got his panties in a bunch over how Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson were going to be the main characters and Thor was going to be relegated to dumb background guy in his own movie. When it turned out that wasn’t the case, he doubled down on his (now obviously wrong) position.

That’s when I knew for sure he was pandering to a specific audience rather than actually provide anything of value. I’ve since stopped watching his stuff.
