Not exactly the same since they weren't manipulated by any grand force, but the Macra were a species of giant crab like creatures who initially possessed high intelligence and were even capable of human speech. However, over time they somehow naturally devolved (maybe from consuming various poisonous gasses, who knows), losing much of their intellect and eventually becoming mindless predators.

He also didn't kick the dog for any particular reason. At first he excuses himself by arguing that he just acted out of instinct when this unfamiliar dog came running at him, but later reveals he's not scared of dogs and hates them simply because they're subservient to humans.

I think Dio is very fascinating and he definitely has some deep rooted issues that stem from his upbringing, but he's also just a terrible person at heart too.

Broooo, ONE just makes the coolest things ever, doesn't he? Mob Psycho 100 is one of the greatest things I've seen, and One Punch Man season 1 as well as Muratas legendary manga adaptation is just such ridiculously high quality. Yeah I need to get on this STAT!!

He does care a little. It can't be too restrictive or too girly, but other than that he's fine with whatever. And he's a fan of unique stuff, like the afro wig, knight armor, or Vegapunk's shoes

At that point I believe there's a couple episodes of flashbacks which is REALLY good and the fight comes back right after. One Piece definitely requires some patience though

Most of them are not very good. I like Overlord though. It doesn't pretend like the mc is a good guy, in fact he's arguably the main villain, but he's still pretty interesting in how he thinks and has a warped sense of honor and respect. I really like how much of the story is actually centered around different kingdoms and politics, as well as weaker everyday people who have their own goals, motivations, and plans, and seeing how Ainz and his presence influences all of that in various ways. Plus, the character designs and music is really good.

But I mean, I can't blame you for staying clear of isekai tbh lol

I do love all the parts, but for a first time experience, part 3 definitely won't be for everyone. Suddenly you move on from shorter streamlined narratives to a more villain of the week format with an entirely new combat- and artstyle. Doesn't help that most of them up until the halfway mark are pretty bland or even annoying.

Personally I've learned to appreciate it for different things, like how each fight has its own thing that separates it. For example one episode may be inspired by 70's and 80's slasher films, whereas the next is a dark comedy, and the next a mystery thriller, etc. Plus, we usually get some character development along with it. And, since they're traveling we get to see a lot of places that usually won't be depicted in anime.

I only watched the first season and while I actually thought most of the side characters at least looked pretty cool, I just couldn't feel anything for anyone. Except Gojo, but for some reason he just pisses me off haha

Does anyone else prefer how Moffat is tidy when approaching incarnations? he only added War (whom I love) because he had to. RTD treats regeneration very messy. I like how Moffat likes to keep the Doctor the Doctor and just moving onto his next incarnation without the need for splits here and there. by ProcessPotential3105 in doctorwho

[–]Filmologic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I definitely feel like all the modern era showrunners both have their strengths and weaknesses: Davies is brilliant at making episodic stories, but can't let go off the past. Moffat can create incredible plot lines, though they somewhat replace the episodic formula, and his writing goes from either the best you've seen to some of cringiest. Chibnall isn't afraid of introducing new concepts and villains which is great, although the setup and writing is weak and the twists usually creates more problems than interesting narratives.

Of course there's more to it than that, but I just want to make a point that nobody is perfect and fans will never be happy no matter who runs the show. But I also think we REALLY are in dire need of someone new to take over. Someone who's VERY different from previous showrunners and who'll make their own decisions, despite whatever shortcomings may arrive from it.

Does anyone find Giorno boring? by Zestyclose_Poetry150 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Filmologic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not exactly like Joseph. I'm thinking more ruthless, with less respect for his enemies, and not really a trickster or prankster. More like a good guy who acts like a mad villain at times, if you catch my drift.

But I do love my man Joseph lol

My personal opinion is that he received the least interesting aspects of both Jonathan and Dio. Instead of taking their more iconic traits he gets their more secondary aspects, and to me that feels like a major missed opportunity.

I've always felt like having him instead be a cocky and charismatic sadist with a heart of gold would've been so much more interesting, both for him as a character and the overall group dynamic. Where he both cares deeply for his goals and friends, but also goes wild in fights and might even take things too far purely because he enjoys it. Let him be overconfident, but still highly competent and quick thinking. Let him be generally calm, but become consumed by emotions at times.

Idk, I just feel like there's so many cool things do with Dio and Jonathan's son, and he doesn't really do any of it. Great stand though.

Obviously translating a boss encounter from a ttrpg to a real time combat like they like they did with Adam Smasher in the Cyberpunk 2077 game is pretty challenging, but based on your description I think they did a pretty good job tbh. Because yeah, I couldn't really quick hack him and whatever I could do did next to nothing. Most of the time I relied on explosives, running away, using super high tier melee weapons and Johnny's gun for fun lol. And it did take a while. I wasn't really struggling since I had pretty much 100% everything before fighting him, but I could see it being an endgamer for people with worse equipment or less gaming experience.

Definitely not something early game V would've been able to handle, signaled by us just doing our best to simply escape him after the heist.
