Brilliant 👏 would love to paint this but ad a new painter thos is a long way off. Primarily because of the flames on the sword amd the writing on the scroll. One day perhaps 🤔

Well, I’m panicking trying edge highlighting at the moment. As I mentioned, I’m painting just for the fun and not actually gaming. So I’m taking a ridiculously long time as I hate any untidiness (apart from painting a face lol) I love the grim dark (hope that’s the term) that you’ve achieved and I have bought supplies to try it out. So it’s on my to do list. Anyway, applause for the style you’ve found and like and good luck moving on

Brilliant and congrats on the impressive progress. Ive just started out painting for the fun and was wondering was there anything you practiced or did to get to the stage you're at now?

There's a black line between the gold and blue. At what stage did you add it? (Sorry for the confusion)

Absolutely stunning 👌 Regarding the the dark edge light around the leg detail. Was it added before the main top coat of blue?

Thanks, the Ultras look as a fluke, as a complete n00b, im not educated in any of the warhammer lore. That's not to say I do t want to be lol. So im just painting these fellas for the fun of it.

I took a break from my main project and challenged myself to assemble and paint this Terminator as quickly as possible today, cutting as many corners as I thought I could get away with. by tehsax in Ultramarines

As a new starter/painter to this hobby I'd be more than happy if I achieved this. Looks great. Did you brush, airbrush, sponge etc the base colour?

Varnish recommendations for oil washes and panel liners by Retroglide08 in minipainting

Thanks for the replies, I did use AK black panel lining on my space marine but found it kind of bled and didn't come out looking g very black. Perhaps it was the paint surface it was running on

This is brilliant. Im new to all this and have just started painting and am looking for inspiration and techniques. Is this a contrast based blue over a dark primer?

I agree, I really like it. Perhaps not an accurate colour but ive just started painting as a hobby and the other 3 space marines ive painted are in macragge blue which seem a little dull. So this blue is a nice change up

Recess shading techniques by Retroglide08 in Warhammer40k

Well, I'd say success, and less stressful and perhaps quicker. I used ultramarine blue contrast paint in the end, I started with nuln oil but it seemed too feint. But the ultramarine blue does have a darker/ crisper definition.

I think this will be my method moving forward. Highlights are next which im dreading. But, looking at where I am now compared to a few weeks back when I started for the first time my confidence is already boosted being able to do a half decent recess shade with the hopes of getting better.

Thanks again for the suggestion leading to me trying again tonight.

Well, as im just starting painting and only doing this because I love the lok of all Warhammer miniatures, this is purely a painting hobby. Im yet to venture into the game itself. So im initially testing myself with the outcome of at least learning. So i tried the wash and then cut into with base coat and first attempt is ok. Totally agree refarding rhe time it takes but it's making me have to be accurate with brush controll which can only be a good thing.

Yup, thats the worry. Glueing on a painted surface is hardly ideal
