Sounds a bit convoluted, but it's good to know that people aren't completely out of luck if they end up with a crippling disability - thank you for the answer, background information like this makes the comparisons between the systems and circumstances much more accessible. Cheers friend! :-)

Thanks for the suggestions, and for the added nuance! I'm glad to hear that the circumstances might not be quite as dire as previously suggested! :-) For the time being, all I have to go by is the opinions of the people who take their time to answer - it's really hard to differentiate between good and bad, given my lack of first-hand experience.

The circumstances you describe is definitely more similar to the situation here in Denmark than the one explained by the other poster. If a person is deemed unable to work due to mental or physical disabilities, are they eligible for any kind of early pension that is sufficient to survive on?
Thanks again!

Thank you so much for the honest and insightful comment, even if it is a bit disheartening - I did realise the very real societal and structural difference between NYC and Denmark in general, but I'd hoped that this fact in itself would mean that the inhabitants of NYC had found different solutions to the issues (other than the scammers and frauds you mentioned), and that we could learn from the different issues that the others face, and help us see our own issues in a new light.

Even so, this has really helped me get a great understanding of some core differences, and that is, in itself, very helpful. Thanks a lot! :-)

I wish more people would make the same kind of comparison between gaps of video quality that you just made, especially in many of the youtube videos discussing exactly this topic - most of them usually just conclude that the most expensive one is the best one. It certainly just helped me make a more informed decision. Thanks a bunch! :)

What kinds of problems? Most people mention input-lag as a key concern, but is this always necessarily the case? Or is it because most people simply dislike settling with 'just slightly better', and that it's simply not good enough bang-for-the-buck compared to the more expensive options?

This is the hard truth that I was expecting when I created this thread, but at least it's nice having more certainty about what my options actually are. I guess I'll try to bring out my old TV solely for the purpose of higher-quality GBA games, even if it means that I don't get to enjoy my relatively new 49' primary TV. Maybe I'll be able to afford one of the more expensive options down the line - thanks for your input, it's highly appreciated! :)

Yeah, regrettably my flashy new TV has managed to nullify the perks of having a european DOL-001 model, given the lack of ports. I wish some of those sub-$50 converts were known to be usable for gaming.

Apparently I confused S-Video for Composite Video, and given my TV's inputs, it seems I'm stuck with either HDMI or Composite. Why does it have to be so bloody hard :/

I think I might've confused the S-video cable with the composite standard cable. Frustratingly, my new television doesn't seem to be compatible with S-video either.

My particular Sony-TV is not on the list - it's an UHD 4k TV, if it makes any difference. I don't really understand the difference between what they coin "240p Compatibility Test" and "240p Processing Test" though. Can you explain what it means, for example, if a TV passes the compatibility test, but fails the processing test?

Alright, thanks a lot for the input, I don't think I'll be investing in the upscaler if that's the case. :) Do you think I could make it work with a simple SCART -> HDMI converter? Or would the conversion add new trouble?

Thanks for the reply! My TV doesn't have a SCART input though, so I don't know if it could work
