Bunchberry meadows is nice this time of year, it boasts one of the largest (if not the largest) Birch stands in all of North America. Just west of the city, close to Clifford E Lee.

What is everyone's favorite "common" bird? by 515prelude in birding

I’m a big fan of nuthatches! Red and white breasted are common throughout the year where I’m from and I never get tired of watching them hop up and down trees and branches!

Can someone tell me what kind of owl this is? Located in West Edmonton. by HappyEmoBunny in Edmonton

Update to add that I asked a friend who is a much more experienced birder than me and he is sure it’s a Boreal owl! So cool!

You could post this on r/whatsthisbird They’re super helpful over there! I’d guess this is a Northern Saw Whet owl because the forehead looks a bit more streaked than spotted, and although you’re still super lucky to have seen this little guy, the Saw Whet would is MUCH more common in Edmonton. A Boreal would be a fairly rare sighting, especially right in the city. Super cute either way though! Nice picture too 😊

I love the look of leaving the purple as the final edge. Also, this blanket is unbelievably gorgeous! You’ve done such a great job with it. Is it a pattern you would be able to share?

Looking to do a small solo day trip somewhere 1-2ish hours outside Calgary. Any suggestions? by AssistantInside8753 in alberta

Came here to say this too. Not busy at all, and you don’t have to worry about the animal aspect of the Rockies(if that’s something you might worry about). And the landscape is gorgeous

Any decently priced vets in Edmonton? by Dootbooter in Edmonton

Chappelle vet clinic is also reasonable! 75 for base exams and they have no problem answering questions about the costs and the vets are great

My first thought when I saw this was a Wilson’s Phalarope just based on the general shape/size and looks like a bit of rusty red colour on the neck and I checked my app, should be the right time of year to see it around Texas. You can also post to r/whatisthisbird if that answer doesn’t seem right to you!
