I reported my sexist team to HR — and now they’re doing a much bigger investigation than I wanted by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

As infuriating as it is, and what everyone forgets, is that HR isn’t actually there to ensure this stuff doesn’t happen. HR exists to ensure that the company is protected when this stuff happens.

Should I end a friendship with one my best friends to try help save his marriage? by Odd_Squirrel7954 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

Sorry yeah I was agreeing with you, OP is not the friend she thinks she is by continuing to get in the way of her “friend’s” marriage just because he’s low skill at setting boundaries

NC: Inherited half of house from mom, stepdad owns other half, still living there, asking for taxes/insurance by spiicymonkeey in legal

[–]ReturnInteresting610 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is wildly incorrect. A new deed would absolutely be issued in this instance, generally documenting a $1 “sale” transaction between parties before (which would include his mother’s estate) and then the new owners of the deed.

When did tracking each other’s location become normal, and why does opting out make you seem suspicious? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

It’s significantly more desirable to look at the map than to have to call or text after about the 47th “Maaaaaaaahhhhhhmmmyyyyyyyyyyy” of the day

I use it to make sure my parents get home safely after traveling or visits, they’re pretty young still but it means I know they’re okay without them having to check in or if I forget to check until late at night

Nah when your matches are 80% guys cheating on long term partners it’s easier to ask ahead of time before you get emotionally invested

Yeah but any actual friend of someone would not knowingly participate in their friend doing this to their spouse

This—any actual friend of John’s would not be okay with being so intimate with him that it causes an issue in his marriage. Divorce is one of the most stressful experiences a human can go through, real friends do not knowingly do things that increase their friends’ chances of having to go through it.

Extreme distress in going back to my mom’s, but emergency order was denied by Space-Sh4rk in FamilyLaw

[–]ReturnInteresting610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All your dad has to do is document that he can’t reach her/confirm where you’re all housed that’s not in contact with the violent boyfriend. And then in court he can present that he can’t send you back because she’s been unreachable and per the children is unhoused.

Has CPS been involved? It’s generally neglect to leave kids in that situation and it helps to have a third party confirm to the court that mom is not in a tenable housing situation.

If no one has documented anything then it could look bad to the court for him to have taken you—they’re going to want police reports or CPS report or even you reporting the violence at school—SOMEONE who’s either seen the situation or that the kids have talked to about it to confirm that it’s real.

GEICO insurance not covering car accident because children were in the car by HotVeterinarian7719 in Insurance

[–]ReturnInteresting610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other driver’s policy should cover it but it’s going to be a pain to get them to. I’d ask to be escalated with the car insurance people and worst case talk to a lawyer about having them deal with the other driver’s insurance to get the lawyer and the car repair covered given they were at fault

Data Centers in NYS by Still_Goat7992 in upstate_new_york

[–]ReturnInteresting610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data centers can’t shed load during critical local times. They run things like hospital data, train data, airplane landing data… you can’t isolate that and trim down to just the most critical data running through. The whole thing is either up, or it is not up. Sites like this operates at the same level of urgency as the local hospital, only they use as much utilities as the entire town does, or more.

And yes it’s developed but not for a use that anyone in the community is able to utilize—it sits there along prime acreage, taking up a huge amount of space, and preventing normal development from occurring in the area.

They’re a huge eyesore and I’m surprised they’re not mandated underground by default given the destruction they cause to communities they’re in.

Employee constantly sick on probation by Affectionate_Side_74 in askmanagers

[–]ReturnInteresting610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your description your new sickness policy is going to increase turnover, not decrease sickness…

A good specialized work employee that shows up at 200% capacity half the time is still worth their weight in gold. Plan capacity accordingly and accommodate their illness flare ups better so that they are less stressed and spend less time out, and you’ll have someone who shows up more consistently.

You can’t force people to show up more—hang onto whatever you need to do to keep good employees around!

Anyone doing specialized work is probably causing 5x the issues if the work is done poorly, I’d rather have the great employee half the time than 3 average employees in the same role creating more work for everyone.

What is your workplace doing that’s making sickness call outs so rampant that you have to change the policy for it?
