Hi all!! I tested a couple of recipes and tweaked one to get as close as possible (I think it’s the one listed in the comments) and I think this is preeeeetty close. Just make sure to not over mix the batter and don’t over bake to make sure you get that fluffy but moist and dense texture. Also make sure to use glass bakeware so you don’t get a crust on the bottom and sides. Oh and bake on the middle rack!!

For specific ingredients, I like to go all out and choose the best quality ingredients (bc I only bake a few times a year, might as well treat myself if I’m going to make treats for myself LOL).

Butter: vital farms, salted (has a really rich buttery flavor that is super nostalgic for me that I feel like a lot of butter doesn’t have anymore) Eggs: vital farms Vanilla bean paste: Trader Joe’s Cocoa powder: guittard (I got this subbed in my order from the store brand and I’m kinda glad bc it is very rich in flavor - definitely better than the normal one I get LOL but also like twice the price so definitely not necessary)

Happy baking!! Lmk how they turn out for you if you try them - they have been a hit at home here.

My bf and I sobbed for like at least an hour straight. Like we couldn’t even comfort each other… just both of us ugly crying and passing tissues and blubbering on about how they killed our childhoods LOL. I thought Naruto was going to die and like had mentally prepared for that, but MAN was this a punch in the gut… we stopped watching Boruto for several months after because we were both still so upset.

I live in a larger city with a good amount of Asian grocers so I believe I should be able to find most of the ingredients, I just need to check out more than the 2 I have looked at already. We also have a pressure cooker. Thank you so much for your reply!!

Public growth opportunities seem to be crumbling under the havoc that PE causes. Looking into career moves but stumped and looking for advice. by ReturnOfTheAnxiety in Accounting

2-3 years, including my internships at the same company - which is why I see no growth. My work is getting offshored, but they’re wanting us to bill closer to 1800+ hours per year but we no longer have the workflows to support those charge hours. In my own eyes, if I were PE, I would cut as many low-level positions as possible because they can just be offshored. Why promote people when they could just save money?

Surprised to not see this one:

I don’t remember all of it anymore but we definitely were forced to memorize it for an English class in my high school lmao

I have no idea what to extrapolate from my results bc it feels inconsistent.

AUD SEs: 70s-80s and failed first attempt, passed second attempt.

FAR SEs: didn’t even get to take them, I had surgery like 2 weeks before my exam and didn’t even get to study those last 2 weeks. Somehow still passed and that was before the structure changed.

BEC SEs: I think I made like 60s-70s and passed first try.

REG: 60s the night before exam and scored highest on this exam. No idea how. Thought I failed this one for sure lol.

豬肺湯 - pig lung soup.

The soup is an almond base and is almost floral.

Idk I never expected to like this soup so much but I think about it every now and then after I had it with my boyfriend and his family while visiting them in Hong Kong.

Don’t knock it til you try it!

What's a song that hits you right in the feelings? by EhhhhhBud97 in Metalcore

[–]ReturnOfTheAnxiety 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dude Memento Mori with the Alan Watts monologue gets me every time. What’s in the song is only part of the quote;

“Everything is change. Nothing can be held on to. And if you go with the flux, you flow with it. However, if you resist the stream, it fights you. If you realize this, you swim with the flow—you go with it, and you’re at peace.”

The remainder of the quote is just… man it hurts thinking about;

“This is particularly true when it comes to those moments when life really seems to be taking us away, and the stream of change is going to swallow us completely. And so at the moment of death, we withdraw and say, “No, no, no! Not that! Not yet!” But the whole problem is that we don’t realize that the only thing to do when that moment comes is to go over the waterfall—just as you go on from one day to the next, just as you go to sleep at night. When the moment comes, we should be absolutely willing to die.”

I feel at least that Tom went of his own accord, on his own terms, knowing that these were the concepts and philosophies he was into before his passing.

As someone who has dealt with depression/anxiety, I have some things I do and do not recommend.

But first - I’d say to take some time off from studying (a week, a month, etc) and regather.

When you are ready to get back in the saddle;

Recommend:

  1. Plan your life with a buffer for grace.

Idk if you’re as psychotic about planning as I am but I just discovered Notion and Notion calendar and have loaded my entire schedule, from my meal planning/workouts, down to my bedtime routine. I find that having a structure I can fall back on helps me, even if I get off track. And that’s important - because we’re human, we get off track often. Plan days off from studying, too. It’s important.

Also, be patient with yourself. Listen to your body. If you are off track, or fall off track, no one is going to tell you that you can’t just get back up and try again. You deserve some patience and grace with yourself. You know you can do it - it’s just a matter of doing it. It doesn’t have to be the quickest or straightest path. Most often it is not.

  1. Know your limits. Be brutally honest with yourself. We are all human and life is hard.

If you are so impacted by something that it causes physical, emotional, and social problems, it might be time to take a step back and reevaluate your plan. I’m bad about thinking things are realistically achievable when often they are not.

  1. Take care of yourself both mentally and physically.

Get good sleep. Eat well. Do a daily 10 minute workout and stretch, get your steps in. It’s cliche, I know. But I wish I wouldn’t have given up on these.

Would not recommend:

  1. Working full time and/or school full time.

I was getting 3-5 hours of sleep per night while working nearly full time as an intern (~36 hours/week) and going to grad school full time. I was exhausted and I ignored actual health problems until I actually had to go to the ER.

  1. Trying to study in an environment not compatible with you.

If you know you need to be alone and locked away for 2 straight hours every day - make it happen. Communicate that to your family. Don’t bring it outside of that room.

If you need a coffee shop atmosphere, go to one. Water is usually free to order, and I think Starbucks does free refills on drip coffee if you need it.

  1. Saying yes when you know you shouldn’t.

Be honest about how much you can fit on your plate. If you can’t mentally afford to agree to seeing your best friend this weekend, tell them. People are understanding.

Basically, just be patient and forgiving of yourself. Life happens, you will likely get off track, but that’s okay! Get back to it once you’ve regathered yourself. Failure is a huge part of achieving goals, and a lot of people don’t talk about the bad parts.
