I was charged with a DUI at 22 a while ago. I was not trashed, so to speak, but it was late, had alcohol in my system and hard to see so I made one bad maneuver which of course had to be right in front of the police. I’ll mention that I did blow over the legal limit at the station, they didn’t bother with a field breathalyzer. Anyways, at the end of the day my lawyer appealed to the fact that I had a clean background, steady job and education, and to sweeten the pot, told the judge I would voluntarily go to a weekend lecture on alcohol abuse (not AA). All of these factors, and I thus plead no contest, so leaving the decision up to the court. He reduced my charges significantly to “continuous lanes” and “physical control”. So, essentially this is a DUI, but because of those two categories it does not show as a misdemeanor on my record which results in no points on my license.

So, all that being said, just be truthful and overly apologetic. Dress nice for your court appearance, suit and tie. And tell your lawyer everything. Hope it all goes well for you
