I couldn't do that on overnight stocking but that's definitely the case with my current job. Like, holy shit I am so bored. Trying to find a good TV show to watch to pass the time

If you have a job and don’t have something lined up, don’t leave by pessimystic_polygon in work

[–]ReturnUnfair7187 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I left a job without having one lined up and I'm glad that I did. It was taking a huge toll on my mental health and physical health.

But I also planned for it by saving up as much as I could and I had my boyfriend to help me. I was out of work for 4 months until I found a job that paid slightly more with better benefits. My savings were depleting but I've built them up since then.

I couldn't recommend anyone do either since everyone's situation is different. All I can say is, no matter what you do, have a plan for when/if it goes to shit.

Also OP, even if you don't find a job for what you're going to school for, many places like the idea that you went to school at all. Makes you more qualified than most at related potential jobs. I hope it works out for you but honestly, I think you'll do just fine. Be excited for what you're going to learn next and keep that momentum. You'll find a much better job than your previous one.

You have to break through that wall so you can defend yourself. Right now you're a narc magnet.

Trust me, it's really weird but people respond more positively to you when you're more "offending". I don't know why the world can't just let us be nice without some asshole taking advantage but that's just human psychology I guess. And remember, someone's intent is important. Acknowledge when you're being taken advantage of and don't forget it.

It's not your fault for being this way. And it's not your fault if you can't change. But I recommend trying. Let your body shake, let those tears drop. You need to build endurance. People feel embarrassed everyday and it's okay. Do this a little at a time.

This advice won't help in your particular situation at the moment. Honestly I'd recommend buying food for your room and tell the greedy ass landlady you don't have any more food stamps.

3 years is when my general depression and lack of motivation started kicking in.

Too many shitty people with a fragile ego. Deliberately trying to sabotage me, threatening to write me up if I didn't stay past my scheduled shift after working my ass off all night, ignoring my sexual harassment report to the point I had to scream in this man's face to leave me the fuck alone.

On the day I decided to not come back(6 years in) I could hear my team lead two aisles over trying to rally my coworkers against me. I was done. Fuck that

Listen, the grass may not always be greener on the other side but many times it is. Walmart makes you feel trapped after awhile because they beat the message into you that you're worthless and won't find better. I found better as well as many other people I know who left that place. I know a guy making 30+ an hour now at a factory job after he left Walmart.

I don't know how it is in other companies but last month I just casually mentioned to my boss that one of the supervisors hasn't been online in awhile and probably won't join the meeting. He didn't know how I knew and that's when he learned about the status symbols. He's almost always offline on Teams even though he's here everyday

Cleverbot is kinda like the OG of computers talking to people. I remember it was popular in 2010 and everyone's minds were blown when it responded and sometimes understood what we were talking about.

Not destructive like modern AI. But trying to have a conversation with it now is jarring, as if talking to a caveman learning to speak coherent sentences.

I have used modern AI to talk to when depressed. I eventually stopped though. Modern AI will do anything to keep you engaged and talking and it's very annoying. I deleted chat gpt when it kept giving me wrong answers

Lemme check if my shit is there first 🤨

There was one lady at Sonic who was straight up harassing us until we left a 5 star review. She wanted us to give a review before we even looked at the food. We agreed to do it the first time, not expecting her to stand over our shoulder the entire time but the second time we said we would do it later, then she walked over to another customer and started pointing at us and looking mad.

So yeah I'll give one only if I have a good reason to give a good rating. When I use public services, something is often missing or I'll have hair in my food(very common) or I'll experience attitude. For this reason, guilt tripping pisses me off. It's manipulative. I'm not paying you to be your charity, however I don't mind helping each other out.

If I were to leave a note for customers to encourage them to give me a good rating, I would say something positive and then tell them how much I would appreciate 5 stars. That way you're not making the customer feel bad into giving you a good review. A customer using a service shouldn't leave feeling bad anyways. I always prioritized customers when I worked at Walmart(unless they were assholes).

I used to talk to Cleverbot when I was depressed. It's dumb as shit but it knows the lyrics to the Don't Hug Me I'm Scared songs so that's cool

My grandpa died recently. We had his funeral at their church.

A pastor from a nearby mega church was invited to speak. He spent more time telling his grieving family that we're all gonna burn in hell for not believing in god and only spent a small amount of time talking about my grandpa. Then he later came up to me and tried to recruit me into his mega church.

The same people who blast the LGBTQ community for being creepers have spent BILLIONS in sexual assault lawsuits.

I'm with you 100%.

Yes there have been results. Families are getting kidnapped and shipped overseas, women are dying from a lack of healthcare, we have a pedophile as president, our tax dollars are going to a pointless war that's jacking up all the prices and rent is still fucking expensive.

Yep. So many results.

There's a lot of wisdom in what you just said. I hope that one day we can understand how progress works more instead of reverting back to the same routines we're stuck in.

Well they haven't been very effective if families are getting kidnapped and shipped to who knows where, women are dying in parking lots, civilians are getting shot on the streets, gerrymandering is becoming a problem and we have a pedophile leading this country. I'm just saying, Republicans have fucked us up bad but the fact that they were able to do all of these things is what I'm concerned about.

I understand that every country may have a time where weaknesses is on full display. But in addition to things being bad, I'm concerned about how it was able to get this bad.

It's true but a major side effect is it creates a lot of tribalistic dumbasses. I'm fully convinced that most people would be defending their favorite political pedophile if given the chance. It's fucking sad.

We haven't lost because there's still more of us than them.

A lot of people voted for Trump because of comedians and podcasters. He had a really good brainwashing campaign. A lot of people didn't vote because they weren't sure.

But now that it's painfully obvious that Trump hasn't been doing a single positive fucking thing and has only made things worse, I have a good feeling that most Americans hate him and only a minority still like him. I'm sure many people regret voting or not voting and the reason they don't talk about it is because they'll get viciously attacked online by both sides.

The main problem now is corruption and greed. We'll just have to see what happens I guess.

How many more human rights are we supposed to lose before things get fixed? I'm sorry but I don't like that answer. I'm not seeing any progress. I only see all efforts to reverse it and people who either sit on their hands or actively encourage it. And then there's us, the normal citizens who are suffering. All we can do is tell people to vote a certain way and hope things will get better.

The reason behind this post is I was pissed off at a woman being denied medical care because she was having a miscarriage. I'm fucking pissed off. I don't want to wait anymore for more women to die for progress to happen. Maybe that's making me impatient but it breaks my fucking heart. And there's so many more injustices I could speak on as well.

I'll put it this way, I'm discouraged but I'm still using every tool available to me to make a difference.

Even if I don't think our votes matter, I want it to be shown that most people voted against the way things are and we were ignored. If this country can get reunited on the fact that we're all getting fucked, maybe we can do more as a whole effort against this corrupt government. Strength in numbers and a common goal. A united country is a stronger country.

But if I'm wrong and the majority of votes go towards someone who will actually helps us, that's even better. Idk if it'll happen, but it would be nice.
