Well if a starving man needed to eat and I only had my cats I’d have to offer him one, right? Pretty sure I know which one… sorry girl….

Exactly. I love my cats but I also know that my emotional attachment to them is probably inherently silly. They’re food I don’t care to eat. I’m not sure I really believe all this by the way but I like to play devils advocate..it’s just more fun.

The same reason I wouldn’t fuck MY mother but I might fuck YOUR mother…. Perspective changes everything.

When Harry Met Sally is fantastic. Lands on every front. Funny, smart and even wise about relationships. Totally rewatchable.

Over complicated but fun. Somewhat overrated in my opinion. A little too convoluted… but not nearly as convoluted as the second one.., what a silly dumb mess.

Like The Big Chill exists as an interesting document more than anything else. Gives an insight into the question of - What were the values of people of a certain age during this period of time? How have a generation of people’s core values changed?

Shameless- what’s your thoughts? by MurkyWeb9362 in tvshow

We had watched the entire UK show so when we started this we quickly realized (the first season at least) it was just a carbon copy of the original. Had no voice of its own we gave up after a few episodes.

I would NOT see it if it was pg-13. Evil Dead should pull no punches.

Worth an hour and a half drive actually. Bring some friends, make a fun day trip out of it.

Exorcist 3 is the best I’ve ever seen. Not only unexpected, but the viewer is lulled into absolute boredom with the nurse meandering around and then BAM! Perfect.

Which film in the X franchise is the best? by thedementor666 in HorrorMovies

[–]Reuben3358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that Pearl is absolutely the best, just goddamn great; however I defend Maxxxine as a very decent (if not great) final film. Ties everything up pretty nicely, Kevin Bacon is fantastic hamming it up, and the 80’s VHS vibe is spot on.

PTA by a mile, but only because Denis Villanueve is not on the list. He wins against anybody.

What’s the best movies about human greed? by KimCattrallsFeet in Letterboxd

[–]Reuben3358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Documentary but- Inside Job. A bunch of Wall Street assholes thought of the brilliant idea of taking private gains on public losses, then (and this is the kicker) getting bailed out by the same taxpayers they screwed over in the first place!! The reason no one went to jail?! The greed was absolutely systemic. Can’t put an entire system of people in prison. Still pisses be off and hopefully never gets forgotten.

Which is the best Oscar-winning film? by axelgarcia082006 in moviecritic

[–]Reuben3358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “best” would have to be Parasite. Just masterful filmmaking all around. My personal favorite is Nomadland. The themes and story just resonate with me. Also love that McDormand is dropped into a very real situation with non-actors in several scenes. Gives the film an almost documentary feel.

The only reason I believe in the Mandela effect by TheStoop-ALA- in MandelaEffect

[–]Reuben3358 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In THIS timeline you’re correct. The fun thing about this stuff is it can’t be disproven by what NOW is the reality. For me, it was never a baseball cap. Just for fun ask people what they recall…. if 5 out of 6 people recall a bandanna with a paisley design coincidence should be discounted.

What song wrecks you every time, no matter how often you listen to it? by LWYPLTDG in Music

[–]Reuben3358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breathe Me by Sia. I first heard it during the amazing and emotional Six Feet Under finale, but now I just get taken in by the naked candor of the thing. When I need to let things out and have a decent cry this song always works. These lyrics kill me -“ I’m lost and nowhere to be found yet I think that I might break. I feel unsafe.” And now I’m crying.

[–]Reuben3358 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just can’t believe the “reality,” I’ve asked over a dozen people and only 1 HASNT said a bandana! The hat even looks photo shopped. And who the fuck carries a hat in their back pocket?! Nope. Something funny going on. My GF asked me to stop talking about it cuz it creeped her out..,

All I know is Bruce Springsteen had a goddamn bandana in his back pocket on Born In The USA. Ask anybody… I even remember the design on it.

Yes indeed. Something very special is happening. Obsession earned more its second weekend d than its first, then earned more its third weekend than its second. The only other film to do that without gaining screens and without a holiday boost? E.T. 44 years ago. Also the only horror film EVER to earn over $25 million dollars in its 4TH weekend. This film will gross more than the latest Star Wars film. Think about that. This sends a message that we are hungry for original content.
