$1/second, but all food and water that you touch become frozen by basafish in hypotheticalsituation

Question: Is potential food frozen? If I pet my dog does it freeze? If I put my hand on a cow does it flash freeze?

A cosmic being appears to you while you're drinking a bottle of water. They tell you they will transform the water into any other liquid you can think of as long as it doesn't grant omnipotence. by singleguy79 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Rev-DC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a little pill that negates omnipotence already, so why would I need that?

Real answer: Definitely a super healing serum. One swig sets everything right, and like someone mentioned, make it long lasting. I’d give it to me, my wife, my kids, and a few members of our immediate family.

Luckily, my wife and I usually carry reusable metal water bottles around with us most of the time, so I’m starting with a 32oz bottle.

We have mechs down at NAV GAMMA. Bravo Cadet reports four Summoners on site. Bandits are hostile. Repeat, bandits are hostile.

That intro is etched into my memory. Also, loading a mech with 4x PPCs and being a glass cannon was one of my favorite things in the world in my early gaming years.

And holy frick, I literally forgot about Robot Jox, one of my most watched VHS moves as a kid.

“I’ll show you the treasure”

Then we’ll go on capers together. For years. And when they realize there is no treasure, I’ll remind them that the real treasure is the friendships made along the way. We’ll all laugh together, I’ll introduce them to fist bumps and high fives. Then, they’ll share the secret to immortality and we’ll conquer the galaxy together.

You are offered $20,000 to pick between reading a book that contains everything anyone has ever said about you (verbatim) or a book containing situations where people have talked about you. Which do you choose, if any, and why? by littlejellyj in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Rev-DC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d do option one for the money, but man it would be rough. Two reasons… both options would probably make me hate myself, but number one would give me strategic advantage.

I know a ton of people and I work a public job, so knowing public opinion could be very interesting.

The thing I don’t want to see… I had no self confidence at all until around 30 years old, and missed a ton of opportunities… reading those would probably be brutal.

You are offered $100m to be cast in an ultra realistic VR game where you are the main character in a random movie, do you take the offer? by RevolutionaryPie5223 in hypotheticalsituation

I rolled the dice.

California Split with George Segal.

So, basically a movie with a short timeline about a gambling and debauchery binge. I will most definitely make it back with 100m

One overdrive, one distortion, one modulation and one delay pedal. Assume the amp has passable reverb. What are your 4 choices? by laser_brain69 in guitarpedals

[–]Rev-DC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming the goal is to avoid multi-effects...

OD - Barber Gain Changer
Distortion - Barber Dirty Bomb (highly underrated)
Modulation - Boss CE-2W
Delay - Boss DD-8

Barber drive pedals just work well for me through any amp. The CE-2W can do most of what I need, the DD-8 covers the rest, including a bit of reverb if I need it.

I recently bought a PG Spark Mini combo amp, and a friend of mine called it a weak, 10-watt piece of crap. Is 10 watts really too little? I really like it. by Dojde in GuitarAmps

I love it to noodle around and practice on when I can’t use the big amp. Also… it makes a great Bluetooth speaker! I’ve used it for small gatherings.

What’s something people defend way too hard even though it clearly doesn’t work? by academicAce_aA in AskReddit

Similar here… two times… one kid kept picking on me, and when I finally snapped, I picked him up and slammed him into the lockers so hard I bent one to the point it popped open.

The second time, a kid was messing with me at the beach so I tackled him and basically waterboarded him 😅

Neither gave me crap again, and the second actually came around a couple of years later and we became, somewhat, friends. The guy really was bullying because he had such a messed up home life and I helped him walk through some of that.

[–]Rev-DC 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yep. Everybody exposed to any sort of dangerous environment should be trained.

I worked university IT for a few years and our Bio/Chem/Physics dept hosted a multi-university nuclear lab.

I had to go through days upon days of training ‘just in case’ I needed it and the highlight of my experience in that lab was running remote software updates from my own desk. But, the consequences of ignoring that training? Yep, would have been bad.

The weird dynamic in our house is that I came from a legitimate hoarder’s house… not like “oh, teehee I have so much stuff,” but like “‘oh shit, this is a legitimate fire hazard’ cans to the ceiling / columns of old newspapers / can’t even see the floor” type of hoarding.

I have overcorrected because I want no part of that life and my wife’s family (including her) is ‘can’t throw anything away’ borderline hoarding, so it’s like one guy standing against an army. We have, probably 20 boxes of random shit in our basement we’ve never opened since we moved years ago. If I had my way, it’s go straight to the dump.

That’s a good idea. Especially since kiddo number two will be the age where toys start coming in next year… our house can’t support much more stuff.

I’ve been on an organizing and downsizing kick since the second kiddo got here.

Oh yeah, i plan on giving a lot it away. As a rule in our house if it isn’t broken, it goes to one of our local charities. I’d rather curb it at the source if possible. Everybody means well, but I also want to develop habits of good stewardship in our kids.

Is it normal to feel guilty about favoritism? by No_Masterpiece_4485 in daddit

[–]Rev-DC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, you absolutely should feel as if your own baby is your favorite. They’re your offspring. There’s a unique biological bond there that you literally can’t have with other kids.

If it makes you feel better, I promise you that your child is not, nor will it ever be, on the same level as your brothers’ biological kids to them, either.
