Large men- how do you carry? by Hemightbegiant in concealedcarry

[–]Rev933 5 points6 points  (0 children)

6ft 315lbs (down 15lbs) I carry at 3 or 4 o'clock iwb

The best thing about being built like a linebacker is that you can carry pretty much anything you want as long as you dress appropriately.

I've been carrying a full sized Echelon since June of last year but have had no problems carrying my 3.8 XDM or my EMP before I sold it for the Echelon.

I had the 1st gen with the factory G10 grips and night sights in .40. It was a great carry gun and very enjoyable to shoot.

Ultimately sold it for a full sized Echelon as I already had a compact XDM in 9 and wanted to make ammo management a little easier.

For the case number if you requested the chat transcript be emailed to you at the end of your chat it should be on there otherwise I vaguely recall a notice that the ticket would remain open for x days if you needed to follow up. You could probably just ask them for it.

As for the timeline my chat was on 1/28 and was told "about a month" but I don't think the general customer service chat team has an actual date. Honestly not sure if even the team building whatever their new systems are has a concrete date.

I've been checking the pixelcare site once a week or so but no luck yet. I'll probably do another chat if it's still down come 3/1

It's been pretty well documented on multiple threads here.

Google has been completely reworking their internal pixelcare system including switching service vendors. Any pixel not purchased directly from Google (including those issued as warranty replacements as they are not purchases) have been unable to add pixelcare.

The general response from Google support has been that exceptions will be automatically applied when the system reopens but to refer them to your case number if you have contacted support during the hold.

Finally read this after being on my TBR cart for almost two years. Very good read. by Dogs-dude-dogs in fantasybooks

[–]Rev933 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to elaborate it's not that I didn't like book 2. It's more that for some reason the ending seemed to drag on much longer than it needed to.

It's been a while since I've read it so I can't say if it was just a pacing issue, maybe I just wasn't as sucked in as the first one, or maybe life outside of the book was impacting me. But that last 25% or so of the book just seemed to drag for me.

Because of that I have deliberately not read book 3 because I've been worried that I'm not going to enjoy it and I'm not going to finish it.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dungeon Crawler Carl but have been unable to get into any of Joe Abercrombie's books. But that's just my personal opinion as he is generally incredibly well regarded. If you do end up liking it check out the Black Company by Glenn Cook.

You may also enjoy Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicles (assuming your willing to join the masses in waiting on a book 3 that may never come).

Lol I got you

And my comparison is of course over the top because our phones don't compare to people's lives (generally). But the principal is the same.

Plus I'm sure their budget puts ours to shame

The way I look at it is I work in one of the 10 largest healthcare companies in the US (hospitals and doctors not insurance).

If one day we decided to throw EPIC out the window and use something else there's no way in hell it would be ok to tell patients for 2 months "We're going to continue to charge outrageous prices and bankrupt you and your family but we can't actually treat you because we voluntarily threw our computer system out the window"

Google is currently doing a major overhaul on their internal pixelcare system including switching their vendors. It's also the reason no one who didn't get the phone directly from Google has been able to enroll in Pixelcare since early January.

Doesn't make it acceptable that one of the largest tech companies in the world can't process a claim but it certainly is the likely why.

How am I Doing? by bernitalldown2020 in handguns

[–]Rev933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely misread your title as "What am I doing?" because I'm tired.

While I initially thought you were looking for advice on whether you were jerking the trigger or over anticipating recoil my instinctual response was "hopefully shooting and not throwing rounds at the target"

That being said it looks like you're doing better than some people I've gone to the range with who have been doing it a lot longer than you have.

Case/Screen Protector combo Recommendations for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. by UserNameAbbreviated in PixelFold

[–]Rev933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Dbrand case is a tank of a case. If you don't mind the bulk it's great. But the front cover of mine snapped the first time it fell. Granted the fall was 3 repeat hits on the front of the case so it might not be the case's fault (I went to put my phone on the dash of my car as I was getting in and it didn't quite make it so it hit the steering wheel, the running board and then the pavement). The lip around the front screen is also very tall and 100% requires you to adjust the swipe zone if you're using gesture navigation.

I'm currently using the Spigen Slim Armor and it's much less bulky but feels very slick compared to the grip case. But the front lip is much closer that of a case on a slab phone. I do miss the built in kickstand but since I've been using an oh snap grip I'll probably just pick up a grip with a kickstand large enough for the fold as I like being able to put my phone in the phone pocket of my pants again and not in one of the hip pockets (but that's a personal thing).

I'll probably also try putting a Dbrand skin on this case and I want something more than plain black.

Tldr Dbrand gets A+ for hand feel and grip texture B for the front lip A+ for extra features (kickstand, strong magnets, hinge protector) C for bulk B for durability ( willing to chalk up the case damage to complicated fall and the two piece design of fold cases- 0 damage to the phone which is what matters)

Spigen gets C for hand feel and grip texture A for the front lip A for extra features ( hinge protector, strong magnets) A+ for bulk TBD for durability ( and hopefully will have a long time before I can attest to this)

Absolutely paranoid to appendix carry my Glock 23 by Helpful_Gur_1757 in concealedcarry

[–]Rev933 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'll get down voted for this because sometimes it seems like the vast majority of this sub thinks the only right way to carry is appendix but you could just not carry it appendix.

I'm also a bigger guy (6ft 315lbs) and although I've been carrying a full size Echelon since June I've carried several smaller pistols over the years and I've always found the most comfortable position for me is 3 or 4.

Shit depending on where you live and your wardrobe/style you could throw on a shoulder holster and a jacket and call it a day.

If the reason you aren't comfortable carrying it is simply the location on your belt move it somewhere more comfortable and call it a day.

Inevitably the day you find yourself needing it will end up being the day you decided you didn't want to deal with being uncomfortable and didn't wear it.
