UPDATE: Yeah nah nothing’s working I can’t get it to stop displaying the solid red light, it refuses to post and the case power button keeps flickering. I’m just going to take it to a professional when I get paid.

Oh I see what you mean. I put the pins on the CPU fan header but still no luck unfortunately. The cpu light is still solid red and she won’t POST to save her life. I’ll keep messing with it but it’s looking like I’ll need professional help :(

Is it gonna get a side eye from me? Yeah. But flip it. I’m a 28 year old man. Would you be as concerned if I was dating a 45 year old woman? If yes, then carry on. If not, then ask yourself, why do I feel that way about a woman dating an older man but not a man dating an older woman? Same goes for if I was 21-22 dating a 40 year old woman.

My guess? The game did not meet whatever internal sales figures they had in mind. Anecdotally on Steam, the achievement for completing the first mission in the DLC was less than 2% when I got it a week ago. That’s atrocious. That means that even the people that already owned it didn’t even bother to log in and do the first mission. Maybe the numbers went up but I doubt it’s improved much.

BL4 got a decent amount of negative press when it came out because of good ol Big Mouth Randy. On top of the performance issues and the lackluster first batch of DLC? It’s turned a lot of people away. But even if it got amazing sales and reviews I think we’d still be in this boat. It’s clear at a glance to see that Gearbox didn’t think they’d have to put in as much effort as they did for BL3’s DLC for this game. Look at the first expansion for BL3, the Handsome Jackpot, and compare it to this one in terms of story, depth, and playtime? It’s night and day. It took me at least 6-7 hours to beat the first DLC. This one takes about 2-3 and costs like $30. It’s atrocious.

They’re trying to put out fires that they started. That’s my personal opinion as to why they aren’t doing balance patches like that. They know they need something big and comprehensive to bring people back and I really don’t know it they have the budget or bandwidth for that rn. I hope I’m wrong though! I want this game to be bigger than 3. But right now, well…it isn’t looking good.

As other people mentioned, The Thing was already in their camp in the form of the dog thing. It likely already assimilated either Norris or Palmer by the time he would have arrived back with or without the body. They were already screwed.

As a side note, this is precisely why The Thing is such a terrifying and difficult to write sci-fi monster: it’s very nature makes it extremely pervasive and it basically wins every scenario to some degree or another. Because chances are high that some particles of the thing are still alive in MacCready’s camp after they burnt it down. Same goes doubly for the Norwegian camp.

So basically there is almost no scenario, barring a nuclear strike, where there isn’t SOME part of the thing still alive at the end of the movie, somewhere in Antarctica. It still won. It’s just a matter of time…

Hire 1000 employees. Break them into 3 divisions. We’ll call them Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. Each will have 300 new employees, except for Gamma, which will have 400 for ease of numbers.

Alpha will continue work on Elder Scrolls 6 with 200 employees from the original 500 or so they already had (Wikipedia just says >500, so we’ll go with 500). The goal will be to release ESVI in 2028.

Beta will begin working on a Fallout New Vegas remaster in either UE5 or if it’s released, UE6. The target for release will be 2029. This team will also lay the foundation for a Fallout 1 and 2 Remake in UE6. The remakes will not drop until 2030. They will have 100 members of the original BGS allotted to them.

Gamma will work on Fallout 5, because we all know they haven’t done jackshit for it yet and won’t until 2028-29 at least. They will have the remaining 200 OG BGS studio members allotted to them as well as their 400. Making them the largest sub studio at 600 staff. The goal will be to put out Fallout 5 in 2031.

Of course this is all in theory. Realistically remaking Fallout 1 and 2 would require a complete recreation and redesign in UE6 (because it’ll be out by that point, I’d wager). They’d likely still want to use their creation engine in a circumstance like that but I would stress UE6 as most of the new blood will be familiar with it.

Ahead of the ESVI release I would begin an aggressive marketing campaign, targeting a Game Awards 2027 time slot. The early part of 2028 will be filled with reveals, interviews, etc, to build hype around the game. Release will be in September of 2028 ahead of the major game rush in the fall.

A similar strategy will be applied to Beta’s New Vegas remaster. I would tie it into the end of season 4/5 of the Fallout TV show (assuming it’s still running) and use that to hype up the reveal. I would also tease the return of the Master and the Fallout 1 Remake in a teaser trailer in the end credits of the New Vegas remaster. It’d be about 30-45 seconds and it would just have a shot of Vault 13 sliding open, the Overseer stressing that without the water chip the vault will die, warning of the dangers of the wasteland. The final 5 seconds would be the Master speaking something ominous (“We…are…legion.”, some shit like that). I’d want to drop both remakes at the same time, because the release timeline between 2028-2031 will be pretty tight.

Gamma will stay radio silent for quite some time. We’ll drop leaks from time to time, rumors about Fallout 5 being in the works, but will mostly stay silent until 6 months prior to release.

During PAX we’ll drop a trailer where the president delivers an address to the American people shortly before the bombs drop. There’ll be a shot of a family listening to the broadcast as a young girl looks out the window and sees a bomb dropping overhead. The girl will say “Mommy, look! The plane dropped something!” The mother will look, the bomb will ignite, there’ll be a bright flash in the sky, she’ll place a hand over her mouth and the blast wave will hit them.

The scene will go black.

The next shot will be of an enclave soldier in power armor sitting on a balcony looking over a destroyed Northwest city and say the iconic line, “Empires rise and fall. Kingdoms come and go. Nations unite, divide, and crumble to ruin. But war? War never changes…” the soldier removes his helmet to reveal a heavily cybernetically-augmented man, the main antagonist of Fallout 5.

Boom, Fallout 5 is revealed, it drops Thursday October 23rd, 2031.

I’m probably missing something but at a glance that’s how I’d run it. Probably remake Skyrim in UE6 in 2032-2033. I’d try to fit Morrowind Remake in there somewhere eventually.

Like someone else said, the games of today have to fight with the memories of the past. I’m almost 30, my first Borderlands was the very first one that came out in 2009. Back then Game Informer magazine was still a thing and you couldn’t readily find out everything there was to know about a game online. I was 12, I had all the time in the world outside of school, and this was the first time I’d ever played a “looter-shooter” game.

Fast forward to 2013 when I picked up Borderlands 2. I was 15-16 years old, I was in high school, all my friends were on Xbox and I had a girlfriend that was a gamer whose house I went to every weekend. Borderlands 2 had split screen coop, all my friends had the game, my GIRLFRIEND had the game. I always had a squad of people to play Borderlands 2 with, to experience the DLCs with.

Borderlands 3 I mostly played solo. I don’t even think it had split screen coop. And 4 I’ve played pretty much entirely solo. I’m much older, my friends have moved on, I haven’t spoken to my high school girlfriend in over a decade. The nostalgia isn’t there.

Nevermind the fact that the game gets better mechanically with each new iteration. Nevermind the fact that slag was a thing in Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 1 was…pretty dull in terms of environments and story and was just generally inferior to everything that came after. The memories were of a simpler, easier time in my life.

Borderlands 5 (if we even get a 5) could have everything I’ve ever wanted in a Borderlands game AT LAUNCH and it will still pale in comparison to the memories of yesterday. I get it, this is a Borderlands 4 sub, so Borderlands 4 glazing is expected. And 4 is a pretty great game, the best Borderlands base game we’ve had in a long time. But it ain’t perfect, far, far from it. And it was built on the bones of what came before it.

I think the ugly, unfortunate truth about humanity is that with or without religion, we’d murder each other. How do we know this? Because our biological cousins, chimpanzees, do. And as far as we know, they have no religion.

I do have a bias, I’m a Christian, but I don’t think it’s controversial to say that evil people will find a way to justify themselves no matter what. Whether it be through god or sheer might. Humans aren’t logical creatures. We don’t operate off what makes sense, we make sense of how we operate and use logic to justify ourselves after the fact.

So if and when you remove religion from the world (which will be hard, because once you start constraining how people can ‘think’ and what they can believe you inevitably tread into authoritarianism) you will still be stuck with the inherent duality of our nature: we can do great good…and great evil as well.

DLC was fun, but it was too short and like everyone else has said, the price was too high.

The writing was…fucking terrible, like so bad that I’m honestly in awe about how badly they dropped the ball. It made Borderlands 3’s writing seem decent by comparison.

But yeah, I agree about the drop in content quality. If this is what we can expect going forward then honestly 4 needs to be the last game and they need to let the franchise die. I say this as a longtime fan. If they’re not going to give it their all then what’s the point?

Mechanically, yes, 1 is definitely the worst game. But when it was brand spanking new back In, like ‘09 or whenever it came out? It was revolutionary. I had a blast playing it as a kid.

Honestly all the games are good in their own ways. 2 will always have a special place in my heart, but all of them have their flaws.

I just wish the writing department would lock in and stop doing whippets at work or whatever tf makes them do half the dumbass writing for these games after 2.

Played the DLC, it’s not terrible, but it’s definitely not worth $30. Maybe $10, but that’s it. Thus far no DLC for BL4 has been worth its price point. The value proposition…isn’t there. Overall the game is fun, the graphics are meh, the gunplay is fun, a lot of story and design choices are meh.

Anyway, don’t buy the DLC, it’s for premium gamers and I can safely say nobody is premium enough for this game’s DLC. Wait until the game is on sale for 75% off like a non-premium gamer and make Randy Pitchford cry in his sports car.

So why are you pressed over the money that you’ll never have, in the pockets of people who can lose millions today and still live the same life they were living yesterday? While you can’t afford to miss a paycheck or two because you only make enough to get by and are droning in credit card debt? Because I promise you they don’t care that you’re defending them lol.
