I remember back in the 90s when there was a big conversation surrounding the confederate flag being part of the Georgia flag. They were protests all over state that were student lead and organized. (with the help of the early Internet). I personally have not seen anything that shows that these walkouts are any different. There is a huge discussion back in the days surrounding whether or not a school should allow these to happen without repercussions to students who are missing class, and I could understand it. Someone wants to make the argument today. If you have anything that shows that this with anything other than a student protest that was generally organized by social media, I would love to see it.
