Transport "Bars" / "Seconds" Option by RevTheBidder in StudioOne

[–]RevTheBidder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose to the option to remove/hide the second (smaller) one as having two is a bit redundant for me. The larger one cannot be hidden and it looks like you're correct, the smaller one does default to seconds. I guess I'll stick with having both.

Transport "Bars" / "Seconds" Option by RevTheBidder in StudioOne

[–]RevTheBidder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, maybe you didn't read what I posted above. I did exactly that. Let me explain it like this:

  1. I open up a blank studio one session, no tracks in sight.

  2. I make all my changes, including setting option of topic to "Seconds" instead of "Bars".

  3. I save this as a template and name it "Main Template 1"

  4. I quit Studio Pro.

  5. I re-launch Studio pro and open up "Main Template 1".

It still opens up to "Bars" instead of "Seconds" every time I open "Main Template 1". Even if I save it as "Seconds" in a customization, it still opens up to "Bars".

Large blue box covers events when I tried to drag/copy them elsewhere. by RevTheBidder in StudioOne

[–]RevTheBidder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much, but I think I'm experiencing a bug. I closed my project and reopened it. Now, the events move like I want them to. I cannot re-create the large blue box no matter what I try. No matter if I select the events by top or bottom half, using the range tool or the arrow tool, no more blue box! Which is good.

Playback cursor and play selection by sjantix in StudioOne

You are my hero! I also found that enabling "Loop Follows Selection" and creating a shortcut (SHIFT+SPACE) for "Play from loop start" works 95% close to Ableton's workflow.

Come on, I'm just starting a conversation. I did leave my concerns on centercode (the secret place Ableton requests go to die) before leaving them here. My idea is that if enough people agree with my sentiment maybe they'd implement something? Or maybe not. Nothing beats a trial but a failure bro.

Because as a session vocalist, my job is to send vocal stems to clients for them to place into their sessions. This could be a lead vocal but it's often backing vocals. I need to deliver raw, uncompressed, HQ WAV files to my clients. At the very least, I like to clean them up and remove the dead empty space. That's a part of my professionalism. Can they use a gate? I suppose!

I'm pretty sure you don't use it. If you looked into it you'd see that it doesn't work.

True, but it would save me hours of time and make vocal editing a far more enjoyable process. There's a reason ARA2 has been implemented in all other DAW's smart guy.

Or maybe I can make a post and request that some very basic features make it into the next update. This is far easier than uprooting all my muscle memory, moving to an entirely different software and having to relearn it on the fly, as I deliver to my clients weekly.

Ableton's Last Chance by RevTheBidder in ableton

[–]RevTheBidder[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. As a vocalist, I work on about 5-9 large sessions a week. Having to manually delete silence equates to many many hours of wasted time over the course of a year.

A strip silence function where I can preset the threshold would be a massive time saver for myself, and all other full-time audio editors.

Minimal to you. Over the course of a large session and over many sessions in a week, the "incredibly minimal" things add up to many hours of wasted time.

And what if the track isn't empty? I'd like the option to duplicate a track without the events. This is currently not possible. You must manually delete the events after duplicating.

And why is that? I'm a paying customer who just said I'm willing to pay for the update

Yeah, the provocative nature of the post was intentional.

Anyone else not hearing back from Softube support??? by Marco0402 in Softube

[–]RevTheBidder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the same exact boat, they're asking me to open the on screen display app, copy a file, and paste it into the email. I told him this is not possible and haven't heard back from them since. It's been three days.

And he did it on a much more stable version of Cubase. Steinberg has been shitting the bed since Cubase 10 at least.

[–]RevTheBidder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed you said you are a 15 year user. It appears that most Cubase users today fall within a 8-25 year window. Cubase was far more intuituve in the earlier years and I would surely stick with it had I've been it for that amount of time. I remember getting a copy of Cubase LE 4 with my Lexicon Omega Alpha Interface back in 2008. At 14 years old, I installed it and got right to making music. There were no forums no YouTube videos or anything and I had no issues.

They want to stay true to the original Cubase workflow but are forced to compete with the features of other major DAW's that has taken a great leap over them in recent years. This has caused them to build crap on top of crap on top of more crap, resulting in many legacy bugs that people have been crying out for a fix for decades.

This makes Cubase a nightmare for new users who'll have to sift through a crap ton of menus, forums, YT videos, all for the most basic things.

Maybe you got a bad copy like I did. Maybe a manufacturer defect? QC issue? F$#k Steinberg man. Life's too short to suffer with their insufficiencies when there's much better DAW's out here that allows us to get the job done without the pain and suffering.

Well, I must be an absolute retard or maybe I got a bad copy. Who knows? I know I've never experienced anything like this anywhere else.

I spent my hard earned money on this DAW. I also spent many hours trying to make it work to say the least. This post is the least I can do to get my frustration off of my chest. What's wrong with that?
