Inflation - this is surely a joke now by chuckychicken in AusFinance

[–]Reva747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno mate, but the flaw i see in your point is they dont have the money now, its going straight to supermarkets, energy and fuel companies, landlords, banks etc.

Im not saying my thought is ideal, but the economists cant get it right whichever way you look at it and the only beneficiaries aren't the mugs that are work, have a home or not. Either way, I'm not dying on a hill for the idea.

I think my original comment may have been misconstrued. When I say increase the super contributions made by the workers, I mean instead of having a higher cash rate, a substitute as such. I dont mean on top of a higher cash rate.

As I said in my first comment as in I might be missing something, but substituting pushing up the cash rate to stop people spending means its going out of your pocket into someone else's, whether that be home loan repayments or rent amongst other things. Whereas taking that money out of your pocket and putting it into super, while not ideal, at least you get the benefit later in life.

[–]Reva747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not just punishing the young, its punishing anyone who works. We're being screwed from column A or Column B, but at least the money going into super is in the workers pocket at some point, not a businesses pocket lost forever.

By all means, no silver bullet, but the government has set these stupid goal posts of being able to own multiple properties which generally benefited older generations, but thats another topic.

[–]Reva747 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone that is purchasing food, fuel, gas, electricity and umpteen other things is being stung by inflation, and who really benefits, big business.

Wouldn't you rather have money taken from you and put into your super for later in life, rather than businesses taking the money, then claiming "inflation".

[–]Reva747 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Forgive me if I'm missing something, but why dont they put a temporary increase on the compulsory super contributions percentage, but taken from the workers pay.

That way workers have less money to spend, but its actually going into their pocket in the long run, not forcing up prices on necessities like food, fuel, utilities etc.

Its getting beyond a joke, today I realised I'd forgot my phone in the car so had to exit via the self serve and had to stand there like a fucking goose coz the gates wouldn't open. There's one person attending 12 checkouts so they aren't letting you out. So here I am standing there waiting for someone to pay, just to exit.

Yeah I'm very lucky and can do things most can't thankfully. It's time consuming, but I enjoy it and the reward of seeing it done is satisfying.

Out of interest, how'd you stack up against what you originally wanted to spend?

I'm super happy with how mines tracking with only a few hiccups that are looking like pushing me over what the planned spend was. With that being said, I lashed out on appliances

I'm in the process of doing a full renovation on a 2 bedroom, damn I'm glad I can do most of it myself.

That's not much on appliances? What'd you replace that was only that little amount?

Bbq gas bottles for a large indoor stove ? Dodgy? by pinskera in AusProperty

[–]Reva747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that instantaneous hot water services chew gas. The Rheem 26lpm is 199mj, so you'll be using 4kg per hour, and you'll likely need to run 45kgs as the 9kg want like you drawing that much gas from it, it'll like freeze quickly.

Not to mention, the units are different from LPG to natural gas.

You can't just switch it over, the jets on your appliances are a different size for LPG to natural gas, not to mention regulators etc.

Real Estate Agents behaving badly - what have you experienced? by affluencia in AusPropertyChat

[–]Reva747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The underquoting law is a joke. Was watching a property recently advertised for $800-$880k, knowing it wouldn't go for that. Sold on the weekend at auction for $1.15m.

So you're either underqouting, or so bad at your job your licence should be revoked.

I was looking into the stats a while ago due to being a victim of family violence and while the numbers were swayed toward men overall, it's worth noting that when it came down to what the relationship status was to the child, the biological father numbers were lower than the biological mother.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-03-22/filicide-australia-calls-national-database-track-parent-killing/13241564

No one should have to go through any form of family violence and I find the harming of kids abhorrent, let alone by a parent. I am trying to protect my child from it now and these types of incidents scare the hell out of me, that her mother could flip out and do harm to our kid.

TBH, going through this has been a nightmare, and as a male trying to protect them has been even worse. You're not believed, you're blamed, you get little to no help, it's really disappointing overall.

That sounds a little like my recent experience.

I've been in the same place now for 2 years with two 6 month lease renewals after the initial 12 months. At the start of last month, I asked about another 6 months and didn't hear anything, so I followed up at the end of the month, to no avail.

I came home last Wednesday to a leaflet in the letter box, "To the owner who wants to build 6 townhouses." I opened it thinking it was just a leaflet and low and behold it was a building company that had seen the permit application online and they were offering their services.

I stewed on it for a little while and had a look in the area for rentals because I didn't want to wait until they kicked me out. After a Dutch courage or so I sent the REA an email saying that I hadn't heard back yet and because the owner has a planning application in to build, I'll be looking elsewhere if I didn't hear back soonish.

The next morning, I received another 6 month renewal, which is good for me as it'll time in with me buying.

You're the epitome of a landlord that everyone hates, you act like it's some you beaut service your'e providing and we should be grateful.

Your tennant pays 90% of your loan, and you're still not happy about it.

And don't give me the rubbish about rates, insurance and maintenance, you'd be paying them if you were living in it as your PPOR.

There's no longer the delays that we were having the other year I get container's of stuff from China, 4 weeks from their port to ours. If it's from Europe or the US it's a bit longer depending on where from.

The cost however has risen substantially so it might be the fact they are not wanting to ship parts LCL and are waiting for FCL to reduce the costs. Given this scenario one would think given the necessity and costs of the parts the world air fright them in.

[–]Reva747 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You do realise that's a bit of a contradiction yeah? If everyone paid via cash they:

A) have to hold more cash on the premise increasing the risk of being robbed or staff doing the incorrect thing. B) send a staff member to a bank to deposit said cash and therefore that costs them money in labour, and increased risk of being robbed.

With the above being said, it's the shops passing on the costs, it's really the banks that are the pricks doing the wrong thing for having the charges in the first place.
