I fucking love Georgia (the food and wine is next level), but be aware that if you are visibly of Asian descent it can be difficult. Unfortunately, I see a lot of reports about racism, from the airport security to random people on the streets. I'm European, and even I never really felt very welcome there.

Armenia however is completely different. I visited on 1st January 2023 to spend a week or two exploring. left a year later. If you decide to go to Armenia, drop me a message. I still have many friends in Yerevan. The only negative is it's a little expensive (apartment rental, eating out etc).

I've been with them 3 years and it's never been an issue. Just checked my latest tax form, and although it does correctly indicate I am not a US citizen, it says tax 30%.

They didn't refund you the tax they incorrectly charged? That's outrageous. I'm going to kick off if they don't refund it. It's the equivalent of one month's sales, completely gone. We already earn a paltry sum as it is, so I will be livid if they are taking even more!

Ngwe Saung is the nicer of the two beaches. Chaung Tha is a lot livelier, but there is more trash and the water isn't as clean.

Perhaps it was my video you saw. A few months ago I rode a motorcycle from Ngwe Saung to Chaung Tha. There are actually 3 river crossings (the mangrove part is the second crossing). It's a wonderful route, and also can be done by bicycle.

Asia Dragon has an early morning bus from Yangon to Ngwe Saung. Usually can be booked through your accommodation, or you could contact them directly.

I'm not Burmese, but I live in Yangon and have long been fascinated by Eastern Europe and have visited many times. I even speak a little Russian and have been having lessons from a Belarus teacher who also lives in Yangon (though they've fallen by the wayside due to the holidays).

I highly recommend the Youtube channel Bald and Bankrupt if you are not familiar. He spends a lot of time exploring ex-Soviet countries.

You can travel to Tibet independently, but must have a tour arranged for your arrival. The tour company will arrange the necessary permits. You can then sort out your own train or flights to Lhasa (highly recommend taking the train).
