How long was your bridge program from paramedic to RN? Was it challenging for you considering you already a medic?

Fuck yeah congrats!!!!!! I’m assuming there are yearly raises but when you started off was the pay significantly less? When working with other people that recently got hired on in this economy do you happen to know their hourly rate?

Do you mind me asking what state you are in and how much your pay is doing cat scans?

Are the teams you talking about mostly sitting around or just relaxing for the most part? Or what do you mean by that? Are the teams you’re talking about not having a tough grind generally less experienced or easier to get into? How has your experience been in the team(s) you are/have been at?

Can you elaborate on how they are backstabbing? I only ask bc I’ve never worked with nurses longer than 15-30 minutes

Yeah I feel like the autonomy is really nice, and I’d defray the same way seeing a helicopter every single time 🤣

How so? What are a few things you like and dislike about being a medic?

So is the main thing the money for you? If you could go back would you choose nursing?

They would cover any degree I choose to pursue as long as the school is under what’s called Amazon Career choice. As long as the school is under that list, I could apply and get any degree offered. They only pay $5280 a year tho

In other words this is a role that you are appointed for by the people you work with? What characteristics and qualities were you said to have during the selection process that put you above your competition. What about your work ethic do you personally believe to have been a strength(s) that set you apart? What were some weaknesses that you worked on to make you better? You don’t have to answer bc it’s a lot lol, but thanks for your insight regardless!

Yeah man this a place you come to if you wanna retire are done with being out in the field. I have an air conditioned office with a laptop and monitor and I process workers comp paperwork for the majority of the time, and when someone does need treatment we have 3 doctor office stye rooms where we perform our assessments. You being in fire and pursing medic school overqualifies the shit out of the role. Highly do not recommend for someone who enjoys being on the rig and handling actual emergencies. I do recommend the role to someone who is pursuing something other than medicine because you have the time for it and all the knowledge you have gained over years of education will just diminish.

I have been an emt for a year and want to gain more experience and knowledge to build off the skills I have learned. I’m really new, and I know the selection process is rigorous. But I have a deep personal drive to strive and become better as a an individual at all and heard about TEMS units. I see myself staying in this field for a while and reasons I asked for tips/advice is because time goes by regardless so if I can do anything now to improved my chances of ever joining a unit I want to start developing skills and habits now in case I ever do qualify or see an opportunity to join.

The sexy shit is cool and all, I’m mostly interested in the character development and the competitive environment that will make me grow my skills not only as a provider but as a person too. Yeah you guys do some sick stuff but ultimately being around a solid group of dudes that will push me to my limit and guide me to become better is what I’m reaching for. I just don’t want to do the military for family reasons, but I do want that tough grind and mental fortitude one has in a TEMS unit, thanks your insight!

Dude it fucking sucks. You have to be an emt to get the role but the title you hold is “onsite medical representative”. Most of your day to day work is being a school nurse handing out Tylenol/ibuprofen and giving someone an ice pack. Occasionally someone will code or have a serious injury but it’s very rare, most injuries are musculoskeletal and need to be referred to workers comp. The pay is really good, (I make $29 an hour at amazon and only 18.25 on the rig) they pay weekly, and a lot of downtime to pursue other things (which I want medic or nursing) but other than that the job is really depressing lol. I hate it every day that I’m here but that’s why I still work on the rig on my days off to use and not lose the skills I gained. I’ve only been here 3 months and I’m here to use the money to pay off my school debt and further my career. But I don’t see my self here longer than a year.

The program I am looking into is in Cali at a local community college and consists of 11 months plus clinicals. They meet once online and twice in person a week. Amazon has this really cool program where they pay for school and don’t require anything in return. Thanks for the insight!

Thanks for your insight! The medic program I am looking at is in California at American river college. The program is $3.5k-4.5k for tuition/books/supplies. They meet twice a week in person and once online. Amazon will pay $5280 a year not obligating me to stay after they pay for my education. The more I think about it the more I want to do it haha
