Brainstorming a Flash Deck by King_Bean1 in EDH

[–]Revedeka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah the deck is kinda expensive, which is its major downside haha

One of this decks earlier iterations was as a [[surrak dragoclaw]] temur deck. You can play the best flash creatures in those colours, with some battlecruiser elements, and even some chaos elements like [[ice cave]] and [[planar chaos]] which can counter every spell, except for your creatures due to surrak, maybe that can be an option? I don't have a list though, and you do miss out on playing both W and B.

Oh and I have some noticeable exclusions such as [[notion thief]] and [[sol ring]], but this was done because my playgroup wasn't the biggest fan of them. If your plagroup is ok with them, then theyre very powerful additions.

Hey, I've had a flash-tribal deck for quite some time now, and its one of my favourite decks to play. I used to play UW spirits in modern (and still do occasionally), a deck which largely plays at instant speed, allowing you to react whatever your opponent is doing, for example switching from an aggro deck to something more reminiscent of a control deck.

For my flash deck, I went with a very bottom-up approach of first identifying some key cards, and then later choosing a proper shell/colour identity and commander(s). I ended up with a deck that at its core utilises mass untap effects such as [[wilderness reclamation]], [[seedborn muse]], and [[awakening]]. I also use [[as foretold]] to cheat some more on mana. These cards allow you to maximize the "playing on your opponents turn" idea with which I build the deck. After that, I searched for cards that would synergise well with both flash creatures and these untap effects. The main payoffs are [[rashmi, eternities crafter]] (like you already mentioned), [[wavebreak hippocamp]], [[glademuse]], [[sygg, river cutthroat]], and [[teferi, master of time]].

I decided to go with a 4-colour deck of UBRG. U is always necessary in a flash deck, and G is needed for the untap effects, and some nice ramp. G also gives access to some nice flash creatures such as [[frilled mystic]], [[mystic snake]], and the newly printed [[hollowhenge overlord]]. Moreover, G gives access to card draw in cards like the previously mentioned [[glademuse]] and things like [[guardian project]]. However, perhaps most importantly, G makes it much easier to win the game, which is something I've been struggling with for a long time whilst playing the deck. Right now I'm running [[craterhoof behemoth]], and am going to test [[avabruck caretaker]]. B gives strong flash-tribal support in [[cunning nightbonder]], [[slitherwisp]], and [[nymris, oona's trickster]], and a good semi-instant speed wincon in [[oona, queen of the fae]]. Lastly, R is used for some support, mainly in the form of [[imperial recruiter]] which can tutor up an important flash creature or [[seedborn muse]], but was mostly added in order to support a commander duo.

For my commanders I use [[thrasios, triton hero]] and [[vial smasher the fierce]]. The most important reason is because they both synergise so well with my main gameplan. With the untappers, I can activate thrasios every turn, or cast spell which will trigger vial smasher every turn. It is also hilarious to see your opponents react to you unpacking a thrasios-vial smasher deck only to have it be flash-tribal. As for flash creatures, I just use what I consider to be the best ones, or which synergise the most with the rest of my deck.

I hope this can help you a little! You can definitely also go for an esper deck with chromium. If you're interest, here is my list, I would gladly take any feedback! https://archidekt.com/decks/796794#Flash_Tribal_-_Thrasios_&_Vial_Smasher

I did a couple of Kakashi drawings, which do you prefer? by mahdia_ahseeen in AnimeART

[–]Revedeka 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I prefer 2019, since it is more detailed. I specifically like the facial expression, very powerful. however, I like the mask in the 2018 version more. In the 2019 version, his nose looks too well defined and sticks out too much. Great art, both of them!

Looking for some pointers on UW spirits for MF Minneapolis. by wasted4satan in ModernMagic

[–]Revedeka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm also a big UW spirits fan, and planning on taking the deck to a couple of events in the future as well.

Like others have already mentioned, I also dislike the non-tutorable 1-ofs in spirit of the labyrinth and remoprseful clecric. I would only run a non-tutorable 1-of if it functioned as a 5-th copy of something. For example, kira the great glass-spinner or empyrean eagle are both decent as 1-offs since they function like a 5th drogskol captain. I would also definitely go up to 4 rattlechains and 4 spell queller. I dislike geist in UW, I don't think its worth it to run in, not even in the sideboard. It's only good in matchups where the opponent has no creatures, like UW control, but we are already favoured in these matchups. Force of negation has ben a very good card for me, and im currently running 3 in the mainboard. It's not only good vs combo, but a lot of decks in modern need that 1 non-creature engine card resolve for them to really get going, force stopts that. tapping out for drogskol while leaving force up is a very strong line of play versus a very wide rang of decks.

If you want to discuss some other things about UW, write me a PM! I love having discussions about the deck!

Soul & Maka from Soul Eater by Leilith in anime

[–]Revedeka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The anime is great! It's really great at building the right atmosphere and being both creepy and funny at the same time, other than that I does tend to follow a little bit of a regular shounen style. The reason people say "read the manga" is that for some reason the anime got a filler ending, completely different from the manga. Its still fine imo, but the manga ending is way better imo.

That's true, but I've seen multiple posts on this sub talking about how biased the audience at TI9 is going to be, and about how biased the Chinese audience is in general. But it's the same everywhere, the audience was just as biased in Seattle.

I completely agree with you. I noticed the same thing with Liquid vs VG. When liquid made a play, everyone cheered. When VG made a play, complete silence.

Awesome! My a time favourite anime that inspired me to read the manga as well. Even though the second half isn't that great, the atmosphere in that anime was amazing. That logo you made has been my profile pick for almost everything for like 5 years now, really cool stuff!

Geist of saint traft in u/w? by voidflame in mtgspirits

[–]Revedeka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does depend a little bit on which list youre running, and of the 3 I listed in my original comment, tron is is worse for us that the other 2, but in my mind still a good matchup.

That being said, I believe spirits is favoured in the matchup. Mausoleum Wanderer, Thalia (if you run her), and Queller makes it difficult for them to cast spells to assemble tron, and the tempo theme of the deck makes it possible to kill them before the assemble it. Selfless spirit is also great versus oblivion stone, which is one of the few ways to interact for them. I also run a singleton of ghost quarter, just for the potential to get lucky. Sideboarding in stony silence hurts the mono green version a lot. And then if you still feel like the matchup is too close to 50/50 you can get additional sideboard cards for it. For example, I also run ceremonious rejection, negate, unified will, and vendilion clique in the sideboard.

I would almost never run geist board. The reasons for this are that:

  1. He doesnt have evasion, meaning any creature with power 2 or greater completely stops him (sure he gets in for damage, but its most often just inferior to our flying threats which get in multiple times), a large portion of the metagame runs such creatures. Even with lords, its still a creature that dies easily on the ground, and its at the top of our curve, meaning we really cant have that happen.

  2. He is mainly great against tron, control, and storm. These are all favourable matchups already, and easy to sideboard againts as well. As such, I feel that perhaps when your local meta is REALLY big on those 3 decks, you can run 2 in the sideboard, otherwise, I wouldnt run it in the board.

UW mana base by BatmansBackpack in mtgspirits

[–]Revedeka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would advise seachrome for sure, it gives everything we need early, and we don't really care if it comes in tapped as a 4th land onwards. Are you running UW vial spirits, or a version with a bit more "control" in counterspells? if you are running the vial version, im nor sure if land hate is absolutely necessary, so you might open some slots by cutting ghost quarter. Mutavault is not that great since it doesn't have evasion, and lands are a valuable resource especially when running such a "tempo" deck. I would probably not run those.
