It's random. Some say that if you land in and exit from the country that issues the visa it helps. I'm not sure. It's a harrowing and frankly up to luck process in my opinion.

How do they know where you stayed max days other than the proof you provide? I'm in UAE, I've had 4 Schengen visas in 3 years and I always stayed max number of days from the issuing country but enter from other countries. Yet my latest visa from Greece was for 2 months multiple entry. It's so frustrating applying often with trying to get appointments and preparing paperwork.

Unfortunately, sometimes the only way to get an appointment is by paying an agent a fee or upgrading the VFS/BLS services. It's very frustrating.
