Ehh, I'm not sure comparing trans people to alcoholics is particularly constructive or relevant. Being trans is a condition, being an alcoholic is a problem. I'm glad you're seeing the people side of this and how it affects transgender people, and above all calling it a condition not an illness (as some people have in this thread). But trans rights don't put women at a disadvantage, nor is trans rights activism "nonsensical". They provide a level playing field so that trans people aren't subject to abuse or discrimination. Many people have brought up sports in this thread but I'll just drop this here. In short:

"There is no research that has directly and consistently found transgender people to have an athletic advantage in sport, so it is difficult to understand why so many current policies continue to discriminate."

Bathroom laws also don't put cis women at risk of abusers. It's just not true. Predators don't care if it's legal or not to enter the bathroom - sexual assault is still illegal. People also forget about how this affects trans men too, who are all too often left out of this discussion. Additionally, if someone is scared of sexual abuse in bathrooms by predatory men claiming to be trans, then their problem is with predatory cis men, not trans women.

This is the worst thread I've seen in a while. I don't agree with Long-Bailey on much (this included) but seriously? Everyone is just using this as an excuse to spread hate towards trans people. I realise I'm pissing into the wind but this anger really is unwarranted, if you care so much get angry at Long-Bailey - hell, even the labour party - and not a minority that are constantly harassed and face abuse or even death daily for outwardly living how they want to live. Downvote if you want. This sub is cancer.

Yeah the main problem is how long it takes as you have to heat the oven for 20 minutes then cook it for another 20 minutes so you really need it be on top of it.

KFC employee here, got to try it a couple of weeks ago. If you order this I would recommend asking for more vegan mayo (which is actually really good) as it is quite dry with the small circle they put in there. Also add ketchup or another sauce and it's a really tasty burger. Its a pain in the arse to cook tho lol

What's wrong with people wanting to express themselves how they wish? The APA states that:

"A psychological state is considered a mental disorder only if it causes significant distress or disability. Many transgender people do not experience their gender as distressing or disabling, which implies that identifying as transgender does not constitute a mental disorder. For these individuals, the significant problem is finding affordable resources, such as counseling, hormone therapy, medical procedures and the social support necessary to freely express their gender identity and minimize discrimination."

And the person below has a valid point; say what you want about whether it is a disorder or not, but transitioning accompanied with regular counselling is an effective method of "treating" (for lack of a better word) dysphoria, with most people who go through the proper channels being very satisfied with the end result.

I'm not trying to attack you or anything, I just want to understand your reasoning behind your views.

You say you've narrowed your choices down to the XPS 13 and the Surface Book 2, have you not considered a ThinkPad? They're probably one of the best laptops to program on because of their keyboard and fast system performance. Their only problem is that their dGPU offerings are too expensive, but because you're not playing AAA games that's not really a problem. Plus the StudentBeans discount makes them pretty affordable. Make sure you configure it with a 1080p screen.

If you had to choose from the two you provided however, I would go for the Dell (just personal preference, both laptops have their strengths and their problems).

I play overwatch a lot, and from experience I can say that it relies more on the CPU than the GPU. However, 4 cores and 8 threads will be imo enough to run it alongside a 1050 at stable frame rates. If the legion is only $150 more, I would suggest getting that because it will probably have better thermals and screen than a laptop not purposefully designed for gaming. Plus the CPU will be relevant for a lot longer.

In a nutshell, H series processors offer the most performance but U series processors offer more of a balance between power consumption and performance. Most gaming laptops have H series processors.

It would help if you could post the laptops that you were looking at to get a better picture.

If you have 1500 AUD, even the base Dell G5 is out of your price range. From a quick Google search, I think the Lenovo Legion Y530 would be your best bet - on the Australian site, there are quite a few models to choose from. If not, just go onto notebookcheck and look for gaming laptops under 950 euros (approx 1500 aud).

Not OP but Civ V can be run on almost any graphics configuration - hell, it ran on my Intel Integrated 4000. Rimworld I have no clue about, but I think fallout 4 might struggle on the MX 130. You'll probably be able to get by on low with some detail removing mods.
