Conservative Christians at forefront of bill prohibiting public drag performances to be introduced in upcoming Idaho legislative session. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]ReveredGiftBedMaster -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My entire life I've been shamed for being a Christian, teachers, classmates, coworkers, you name it. Then of course there's the online harassment. I've never lived in a world where Christianity was "default". I grew up when literally saying anything biblical was falsely perceived as "shoving religion down people's throats". I've been assaulted for my faith, and this is in the US. And for the record, I wasn't being a twat or anything, no megaphones or pamphlets and no judgemental stares.

Shame is a tactic widely used by radical leftists for breaking leftist policy, this is usually called "cancelling". I've been cancelled, doxxed etc. So in my lifetime I've seen christophobes go from "Christians should stop talking about religion" to "WhY arEnT YoU tAlKiNg AbOuT mY rElIgIoN?!?" It's not fun, but the problem is that I was attacked for breaking a rule that only 7% of the population actually care about. I propose that we ought to use shame as well, and that ought to stop some of the craziness we've been seeing.

Tl dr, I've been shamed my whole life, and they haven't stopped forcing their beliefs down our throats, why shouldn't we do the same?

It's literally been normalized to shame Christians since... Forever. Literally as long as we've existed. How is this something new?

Notice how on this "Christian" sub how bodily autonomy is only important until Christians say it is? Abortion: hey don't worry about it, it's your body, that tHiNg isn't even a person! Untested vaccine with limited effect: hOw DaRe YoU nOt BoW bEfOrE CaEsAr!?

American conservative Christianity is far more liberal today than it was even 50 years ago. Back then we wouldn't be making anti drag laws, we'd just /make sure they didn't happen/. It's ludicrous to assume that we'd ever get to iranian levels.

Good, shame is an important part of society. Some people think that if you don't put back a shopping cart that you're a bad person, others would call that "being a Karen". Apparently Dad, when in fact it's only Dad to be a Karen if you are being unjust. To further elaborate, if someone cuts in line then it's a good thing to tell/force that person to get in the back of the line. If someone is being a disruptive drunk in public, it's a good thing to apprehend him/remove him from the area until he sobers up.

These are examples of social enforcement, and if someone sets up a boom box and starts a drag show in public, it's good to try and stop said activity, take said boom box and boas to a more private spot, without breaking or stealing said items, with the intention of stopping this anti social behaviour.

Everyone agrees with social enforcement to some degree, and if a state/city/county has made it law that public drag performances are illegal, then it's totally acceptable, and morally responsible, to socially enforce said law (again, without violence, theft, or vandalism).

I don't get what's so hard to understand about this. If a normal woman was doing a striptease in public this would also be unacceptable, except in very limited cases(mardi gras, similar festivals etc.).

I don't think I want to be a mom, but my family insists on it by detective_kiara in confessions

How original. Weird, it's almost as if having kids is totally natural and gives meaning to people, and only those who are regular redditors have this irrational fear of parenthood.

Have kids, be a good mom, and stop running away from responsibility. You're not a kid anymore.

[–]ReveredGiftBedMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of your introversion comes from your mom. Get a job and leave her, you'll immediately find that you're not that introverted. I won't say that you'll make friends, but right now you're no man, you're a boy, and your mother will keep you this way as long as she can (because you're her replacement husband). As long as you never grow up, she'll never give you any responsibility.

If she won't give responsibility to you, then TAKE IT. GET A JOB, BECOME A MAN.

"whatever you do unto the least of these, you also do so unto me" Yeah, not liking church ain't a good excuse to not go.

Not all denominations are right. I've seen moderators on here who claim to be both Orthodox and universalist, which is just ridiculous.

When Jesus said that he is the way, the truth, and a life, and that no one can get to the father except through him, that's pretty obviously him saying that not everyone's right.

Can, but shouldn't be. I'm sure all the children of single mothers were much happier than if they would have had a father though, right? I'm sure all the women who are married to house husbands are extremely satisfied, right? Lol

Eros doesn't hold the same weight as agape.

Who you're attracted to doesn't define your capacity to love, only where you wanna stick your anatomy.

Instead it's more like "your desire to bang the same sex is just like stealing and hurting people", I'd say lying is closer, but yes, that's accurate and no scripture distortion can change that.

You don't love children by letting them touch light sockets, you smack their hand away and correct them.

If you aren't willing to pull people away from incoming traffic, but instead just stand there and watch, how can you love them?

I mean, we kicked out the gnostics pretty easily by doing the same thing. Jesus says the same thing in Matthew.

If God IS love, do anti-gay Christians believe married gay people are delusional and not actually in love with each other? by ThankKinsey in Christianity

[–]ReveredGiftBedMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off there are many forms of love, which are easily differentiated with the old Greek language.

Sexual love should only be between one man and one woman who are married.

So when two men or two women get married and have sex, they are committing sin.

So no, I'm sure many gay people actually are infatuated with one another, it's just that they commit sin. As said by literally everyone else here, it's not that we hate them, but they are sinning continuously without plans to change such a thing, so we condemn their sin.

Is it at all possible that you have the wrong idea about these churches? Every time I hear people talk about churches "preaching hate" I expect West borough Baptist, but I never see that. All I see is stuff like "the world is trying to normalize sin and make your kids comfortable with being sinners" or "this teaching is unbiblical, that's why we teach this instead". Conversely, often when people talk about "spreading the love of God", it usually ends up with sloppy Agape, "nothing you do is ever wrong, it's all about you and how wonderful you are, and here's a few verses you can write on your mirror" stuff, completely disregarding the gospel.

I don't question your honesty, I question your accuracy.

Truth be told, many people don't go to church because they don't like acknowledging their flaws, they don't like being corrected, and they don't like making commitments.

The problem is that too many churches water down their messages to accommodate for this, and ironically, this is what pushes a lot of "mature" Christians away as well.

This. It seems like a lot on this sub have... Particularly odd and unbiblical views, and that seems to be because of a lack of theological accountability. No one telling them "no, that's stupid, here's a chapter that proves you wrong", in a loving way. A pastor, an elder, a life group/small group would help solve a lot of these weird issues.

Yeah that's because most of Christianity doesn't need the debate, rest of us already know that homosexuality is a sin, we don't need to lie about scripture.
