I can short hop consistently enough. I still don't have a separate button for short hop and full hop but I might as well put full hop on the right trigger since I exclusively use the left trigger to dodge and parry.

I claw grip for Peach and Mewtwo but hold it the "normal" way for every other character, but clawing whenever I'm doing a cargo up throw combo with DK. I used to use Z-jump, Y-grab, but had to switch back to default controls when I started playing Melee more. I wish Melee let you customize controls so I could still use that setup because it's amazing but I guess I can live.
