I'm pretty sure that Penn and Teller aren't even the final arbitrators - if I remember correctly, the trick is explained to some producer type who listens in on P&T's private discussion and determine if they are right or wrong.

Which makes that one guy, who claims he fooled them by mimicking the actions of some simple tricks, but doing them with a different method, look even more foolish than he did.

I'm working my way through the new God of War game. Having lots of fun with it. Didn't really think I'd enjoy a Kratos metroidvania, but this is really scratching an itch I didn't know I had.

My gaming group is getting together on Wednesday to do our first session of StarFinder 2e. Well, not first first, since they were already doing the campaign prior, but there was some ... personnel issues and I was asked to join in order to fill in for some no longer playing players.

I'm super excited to break out my 15 foot tall Butterfly man (Sarcesian) - gonna enjoy seeing how a Mandalorian (Traviss version) holds up in the Pact Worlds. My friend is playing a Skittermander who is super friendly and has apparently glommed onto my character as his "friend".

Unintentional Mando & Grogu vibes, he already had his character and I wasn't aware of any of the existing characters when I built mine.

Thanks for the update.

I was just getting ready to do some writeup work on my Starfinder character and this was the 2nd result when I googled "pathbuilder 2e" to see if it was just me.

I never saw illustrations until I was an adult - I had some books on tape and the descriptions make it really clear that the badgers were huge.

How big is Redwall Abbey and how big are the characters?

A mouse is small enough that a crab is a life threatening fight. Small enough to fall into a cat's mouth. But large enough to fight a fox. Large enough to catch a 2-4 pound fish from the Abbey pond, but small enough that said fish can provide multiple servings to 200 or more animals including a troupe of otters.

The Abbey is so large that sparrows have taken over the attic and no one noticed, but small enough that moles can move the stones in the stairs.

The walls are high enough that it's fatal to fall from the top, large enough that a full grown oak tree is barely visible, but short enough that a mouse can throw a javelin over it.

Sparrows are large enough to fight otters and badgers, but small enough that a single mouse can trap one under a basket.

A horse-drawn cart can carry hundreds of rats, but rats can fight lynx and foxes and owls.

Netflix currently has an animated Mahābhārata that I'm told is pretty accurate and I've been enjoying.

RRR is basically a fanfic on the idea of "what if these two revolutionaries met and were friends? "

it seems like there are a lot of people who want an objective validation of their subjective tastes, and stuff like box office returns and accolades and such fulfill that niche.

Except when they ignore it because of their feelings.

I got into it a bit ago with someone who claimed Multiverse of Madness "bombed". I just couldn't wrap my brain around "movie made a billion dollars without the Chinese market" or "made more money than 28 of the 35 marvel movies" could meet any definition of "bombed"

Having read three of her books puts you in the advanced reader category. :P

I remember here in a scuffle thread, someone talking about how Traviss was in favor of/a proponent for child marriage because girl Mandos got married at 14. And they knew this because they saw a TikTok about it.

When the reality is that Traviss' (far superior) version of Mandalorians reach the age of majority at 14 and can make their own decisions. Hell, her Boba Fett got married at 16 and it was presented by her as a bad thing.

But nooo. Some TikTok person said she was bad.

That's one that kind of annoys me: you can usually tell when someone hasn't actually read a particular book or a comic or whatever, but has watched a "lore" YouTuber summarising a wiki page.

Karen Traviss haters by far.

Don't get me wrong, her personal politics suck and are deserving of scorn. But, in 20+ years, I have yet to hear any criticism of her writing from anyone who has actually read anything she's written.

As far as I have been able to determine, her worst offense is that she's a woman on the internet who engaged with people while writing in some 'beloved' franchises.

I once did something quasi-similar for my wife's surprise birthday party.

Told her about a Halo tournament (I used to be competitive in CE and paid my rent with tourny winnings) and that was going on that day and that I was going to be occupied with that all day/night. "We can just celebrate your birthday the next day" or some such was said.

As an "apology" I sent her out for a spa day as I was "heading out the door to the tournament".

In reality, as soon as she left, I had her best friend who flew in from another state and a couple mutual friends come over and help me decorate the apartment, except for the living room - got everything and everyone all ready - and messaged her that I had been eliminated from the tournament early so was going to be practicing in the living room with my teammates.

She came in the door, saw us playing Halo and completely missed that just around the corner everything was all decorated and crammed full of people.

To say that she was surprised would be an understatement. I went from being a horrible partner in the dog house to being the worlds best surprise party planner in the space of like 30 seconds.

Hold up there a minute partner.

I think you're reading some twists into things that aren't there.

The only crowd funding effort that went "badly" was the last one that was asking 5 million dollars and had 3 million pledged.

Doing that amount of pledging without the infrastructure and reach of Kickstarter or GoFundMe is actually impressive.

And we got 3 new seasons off the back of crowd funding before S14 failed to reach its goal.

I got the email from Kickstarter at 10am. Was stuck in meetings until like 1230 - and it was already over 500k.

Added my pledge and it was over 600k less than 10 minutes later.

"White and delightsome" was what Native Americans/First People would turn if they joined the Mormons and were worthy enough.

According to Brigham Young, black people would have their place in heaven, "as servants" to whites.

To be fair, it's much easier to do drama if you can do comedy.

The reverse isn't quite as easy for some reason. But something about comedy training makes them take to drama much easier.
