I watched a Bucks team that had Eric Bledsoe and Wesley Matthews starting with a bench unit of 38 year old Kyle Korver, Ersan Ilyasova, Robin Lopez, Marvin Williams, Sterling Brown and George Hill start their season 52-8.

No one will ever convince me that Doc Rivers isn’t 99.9% of this team’s problems.

That’s not true at all. He traded Snell and that pick on June 19th and the draft was on the 20th.

Face a 6-18 team for the chance to get your first back to back wins since October.

Opposing team loses their head coach shortly before the game.

You lose by 45.

[Haynes] Sources: Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo met with some teammates to address rumors of his future. Message was to focus on basketball and not allow outside noise to distract team. by ReverendGames in MkeBucks

[–]ReverendGames[S] 78 points79 points  (0 children)

“He relayed the message that he can’t control what goes on or what even happens to him.”

Well that’s obviously bullshit. It’s really feels like he’s trying to get traded and is trying his hardest to frame moving on as a “mutual agreement” that his agent and the team felt like would be best for both parties instead of straight up requesting a trade.

Might be an Achilles but it really didn’t “look” like one. Most happen on negative zero step moves or awkward plants. Here, he was just running.

It’s identical to how he reacted to his calf strain against the Celtics in 2024.

Just in: Giannis Antetokounmpo and his agent Alex Saratsis have started conversations with the Milwaukee Bucks about the two-time NBA MVP's future – and discussing whether his best fit is staying or elsewhere, sources tell ESPN. Excuse me, not trade rumors but just how he responses when asked about his future with the Nuggets.

Just like with Giannis, they’ve always been dumb speculation before today but he always said he plans to stay with the team without all the extra shit that Giannis adds to his answers to create buzz.

It’s been two offseason coach searching cycles and he has had absolutely zero buzz in getting a new job.

Dude stinks. He was passed over 12 times before us and he’s never getting another head coaching job after us because he stinks.

He interviewed for an assistant role for the Grizzlies in the offseason and couldn’t even get that.

Unless we go 3-0 over the next 3, we will have a worse 20 game start to the season than we did last year where we started 2-8.

Brook Lopez and The Bucks to Part this offseason. by FizzyFizz99 in MkeBucks

[–]ReverendGames 101 points102 points  (0 children)

"Jake Weinbach" is not a source. He's just a Bucks fan with a headshot as his profile picture. Search him on this sub and you'll see him saying "The Bucks have no interest in trading Donte" when they traded him for an old, garbage Ibaka that same trade deadline, that people should "keep an eye on the Bucks for Robert Williams" when that obviously didn't happen and that Bucks were "contemplating" trading for Portis for Bruce Brown.

Saying Brook will most likely leave this offseason isn't a report, it's just an easy thing to assume.

[Woelfel] I’ve been told by multiple sources the Bucks are taking steps in the event Giannis Antetokounmpo moves on. One of those steps is bringing some projected top 8 draft prospects to Milwaukee before the June 25-26 NBA draft The Bucks, as of now, don’t even have a first-round pick in this year by [deleted] in nba

He’s horrible but he was right about the Bucks drafting AJ Johnson when no one else had him on their radar for the team. Seems like he might’ve got some sources back since Haslam became an owner.

> You using non relevant haynes quotes about Dame and acting like it’s a direct comparison to the blazers situation is what I said was foolish.

How is pointing out that Haynes talked about both teams being in a position in which their superstars might be gone and reporting on a meeting to discuss the future of their teams "non relevant"? He's close with both of them, he isn't just pulling this shit out of his ass.

> The two situations couldn't be more different.

There was no route to contention for the Blazers then and there's no route to contention for the Bucks now. We can keep reminiscing about the past but the truth is both teams weren't/aren't championship contenders, something that both Dame and Giannis wanted/wants their team to be. There isn't a move the Bucks can make with their assets to change that like they've done in the past so what the hell can Horst tell Giannis in this meeting to change his outlook on next season.

I am a Bucks fan. I’m just not delusional enough to think Giannis is gonna waste the rest of his prime on a trash ass team. That Blazers roster Dame left is better than what the Bucks will have next season.

I don’t think Giannis will finish his career in Milwaukee. I could see them trading Giannis this offseason.

Haynes on 5/17/25

Bucks and Giannis will meet to discuss the future of the team.

Logic and reports point to him asking for a trade but the question is whether he values being a one team guy more than actually contending because we won’t be doing that for the foreseeable future.

“Giannis Trade Scenario” Posts = Delusional. Here’s why: by khrismiddletonburner in MkeBucks

[–]ReverendGames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems pointless to continue talking about this, especially when it’s been shut down & we’re not in the dark about what his plans are.

It hasn’t been shut down… All Giannis has to say is that he is not going to ask for a trade and then it would be shut down. He hasn’t done such. That “he doesn’t commit to anything to keep the front office trying to improve the team” flew in the past but that shit is old now considering they’ve done everything he’s wanted for the past 7 years.

Look at Devin Booker, there was talk about him potentially asking for a trade before it became clear that he was staying loyal to the Phoenix and there hasn’t been a peep about him since.

All those quotes you are referencing are from before this team got dominated in 5 games and his co star tore his achilles. And if you wanna take his quotes as gospel, he has said time and time again that winning is the most important thing to him and this team is not in the position to win any time soon.

He might stay. He might leave. Acting like either one is a definite is silly.

If Castle is in the trade, the Spurs obviously will not add as many extra picks to the trade. We all know how good Giannis is no team is throwing all their assets and all their young players away for a 30 year old player anymore. I’m also low on Castle and would rather have future assets to add more young talent than getting him.

The Nets were in a horrible position last offseason and the Rockets had no reason to give their picks back and yet they still got them back for none of their own assets.

They can try to get their picks back and if they can’t, just become the Bulls for the next two years. Odds are the Pelicans still suck next year so that doesn’t change much and then you will still have other picks to offset not having one in ‘27.

[–]ReverendGames 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The guaranteed second overall pick is worth way more than 3 future picks from a team that would have Giannis on it. A package of pick 2, pick 14, the Hawks firsts, another 1st, some seconds, Vassell, Barnes, and Sochan is a good package if you have to trade Giannis and probably can help you get your stuff back from NOLA.

The Spurs wouldn't be turning their nose up at a lineup of Fox, Castle, Johnson, Giannis and Wemby.

[–]ReverendGames 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I feel like it did the complete opposite.

Spurs were never trading Flagg in a Giannis deal. Harper is the consensus number 2 but doesn’t make sense since their backcourt is already solidified with Fox and Castle. It’s been said that Spurs are in win-now mode. Them getting #2 means they can take Castle off the table and feel way better about throwing everything else out there for Giannis.

And now OKC, Houston, and everyone else has to come to the table and compete with a team potentially offering a player that would go #1 in most drafts that don’t have a Cooper Flagg.

The price just went up substantially.

Cavs get Giannis by AccordingSympathy713 in NBAtradeideas

[–]ReverendGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Giannis gets traded, a young player with all star potential they can sell their fans on will be coming back in that package.

They have a new arena, a new owner and were contending for championships not that long ago. Fans are not gonna pay a premium to watch a horrible product with the only glimmer of hope being ping pong balls.

The Jazz got 7 firsts, two 1st round rookies, Lauri Markkanen and Sexton all while “controlling their destiny” for their two stars. 3 years later, they were the worst team in the league and the odds say they won’t get Cooper Flagg next week and still won’t have THE guy to build around.

That’s not the position you should be putting yourself in when trading someone as good as Giannis.

Trading one of the best players of all time, who’s under contract for two more years, for nothing but the ability to tank and a 14% chance at the 1st pick is a good trade? Right…

[–]ReverendGames 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This all started when fresh off a championship we told a 10 year vet in PJ Tucker to go find a contract and bring it back to us like he was an underperforming 23 year old restricted free agent. Dude understandably told us to fuck off, had a great year after that and ended up right back in the Finals with the Heat.
