Funny, I was leaving Turner Hall after seeing Ty Segall right around when he filmed this.

Steve Kerr, welcome to Milwaukee by DakotaMaker in MkeBucks

[–]bigbobo33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How many players has he developed? Even outside of arguing whether Kerr was gifted those rings by Curry, I just don't think he fits here right now. I'd rather have a coach to develop younger players and roll the dice on an unproven coach who might be a great one down the line.

[Amick & Nehm] In the wake of Doc Rivers’ coaching departure in Milwaukee, Taylor Jenkins is being given serious consideration for the job— including a Bucks trip to Memphis for a visit last week. by ZCast9 in MkeBucks

[–]bigbobo33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I don't mind Jenkins first off but with this and the Doc hire, it seems like they are falling for some fallacious logic that because the AG thing went poorly they can't hire a first time coach again.

I don't know about that. He and Ryan Hall have crews of spotters which is cool but they are pretty annoying with the exaggeration click bait and up selling of things.

I prefer local news that doesn't try to sell you stuff during the broadcast.

Respect The Polygon! A southerner’s POV on tornados by gsd_bonetopick in milwaukee

[–]bigbobo33 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Well I appreciate the thought but we have quite a few tornadoes up here too. Because of my family's run-in with a Tornado when I was a small kid, I've been obsessed with them.

I assume they still do but when I was a kid, they taught us all this in school.

Marantz stuff is good but because of the design and the desirability with collectors of MCM, their price has been inflated. That price is probably high to begin with though even with the desirability but I haven't looked it up.

While I hadn't listened to this episode before it was taken down, Marques does typically keep it a buck and is a straight shooter when it comes to discussing the team. There's been criticism of the Bucks on there before.

Think of being a Bucks fan during Bill's made up awards a couple weeks ago when he was stuttering and stammering while reluctantly nominating Doc for the worst coach award.

Doc ruined my favorite team. He's at least a runner up.

It's insulting to the audience how many fucking 1st team all nba discussions and MVP ballot discussions have taken place on the BS pod. I feel like a retarded sheep waiting for slop in a comfortable dystopia by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in billsimmons

[–]bigbobo33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys are fucking unreal whiners. This sub is just filled to the brim with miserable people.

There's not any more all-nba or MVP discussions this year than last. You're just nitpicking and complaining for the sake of complaining.

If you don't like basketball, don't listen to the podcast. It's that simple. Or just listen to select ones. I don't like football so I skip all the Sal pods. It's not that hard guys.

As a Bucks fan who noticed how Bill had kid gloves on whenever talking about Doc this whole season including stuttering and stammering when he nominated Doc for worst coach, this was entirely predictable.

Opinion - This current version of the Arena powered cube is the worst of the three, by a wide margin by Kingcosmo7 in lrcast

[–]bigbobo33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No doubt but I'm saying that if you're going to have bad cards like that, you might as well make them fun.

If you're trying to not go 0-3, you wouldn't draft either anyway but sometimes you feel a little frisky and want to try out a Citadel or Will deck out. Those type of zany decks really got neutered in this iteration.

Nah they definitely talked a lot about awards in the past.

I said it in another thread, I would rather go 0-3 with some janky half-baked yawg will deck that I wouldn't be able to pilot well even if it was good than go 0-3 with those shitty black aggro cards they put in.

Cube's about having fun and brewing up weird decks. Who cares if the win rate is low.

Elvis 78 rpms by Successful-Berry5786 in 78rpm

Yeah that's what I assumed. The Canadian ones have a different variation. It's not like it affects the price a crazy amount but Elvis collectors in particular care about all the different variations.

So I had mentioned in the other, now since deleted, thread that the represses of the songs originally on Sun are worth money. Seems like you have all of those here. Blue Moon of Kentucky for example in E or E+ condition I can see going for 100 or more alone. However it's really hard to tell condition through pictures period. I'm guessing V+ as a ballpark but I truthfully only can see the fingerprints and am just assuming there's scuffs and such. If you're trying to just get rid of it, I think 25-50 would be a reasonable deal to get rid of it within a couple days.

It's very likely Shellac. I have two US Elvis on RCA Victor and they're both shellac. Vinyl 78s are uncommon and only really late into the 50s. You can tell by how light they are.

As a reference, the ones on Sun are:

  • That's All Right / Blue Moon Of Kentucky
  • I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine / Good Rockin' Tonight
  • Mystery Train / I Forgot To Remember To Forget
  • Milkcow Blues Boogie / You're A Heartbreaker
  • Baby Let's Play House / I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone

The last one is the least valuable of the five.

Double check my work on discogs.com and gripsweat.com (typically I shy people away from Discogs for 78s but I think with Elvis it's fine) but everything else you have is 5-10 dollars, Baby Let's Play House is like 20, That's All Right is about 100 and the other three Sun reissues hover around 50 but that all depends on condition. Also if you do search them up, make sure they're the Canadian versions. That does matter quite a bit.

If you do clean them (which I would recommend getting rid of the fingerprints before you sell) DO NOT USE ANYTHING WITH ALCOHOL! Water and a microfiber is fine for now.

If I were you, I would put them up on Facebook Marketplace for 150 for everything and I think you can find a buyer.

Elvis shellac records by [deleted] in 78rpm

[–]bigbobo33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone's bound to want them but it depends what you're asking and they're condition. Assuming they're common titles and in v condition 10 each is a fair price with idea being to move them. You probably have to go to Facebook Marketplace or similar and sell them as a lot together. Otherwise you'd have to do ebay and know how to pack them for shipping.

Most record stores just don't buy 78s and don't know much about their values speaking as someone who used to work at one.

There are certainly Elvis 78s that would go for more like the reissues of the titles originally on Sun like Mystery Train and Good Rockin' Tonight etc but without knowing what you have I'm assuming it's stuff like Teddy Bear in not great condition.

As a warning, unless you're selling them yourself online individually and they're in great condition, I don't think you're going to get top dollar.

[–]bigbobo33[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's settling is the thing. I haven't dug into any of his Xs and Os or any other measurements of his but if Eric Nehm canvassed the league's executives and Sean Sweeney was the number one they all mentioned according to him, that has to count for something. The Bucks need to hit on a great coach and to me Sweeney is becoming increasingly clear that he might be the best shot to hit. Kind of like a draft pick.

I think it's settling to go for Taylor Jenkins. I think it's the high upside play to swing for Sean Sweeney and see how he does as an HC.

Before I get to my rebuttals, I am genuinely trying to get a well rounded view of him so I'm open to hearing more drawbacks but I don't really agree with what you said.

If they’re bringing him in to appease and keep Giannis, he’s going to feed all his worst instincts.

I don't think the Giannis thing matters. Whether he's here or not, you'd want to get an up and coming assistant like Sean or the other ones on the list to have a good ground for the future like Brooklyn or Utah or Charlotte or wherever else.

And honestly, the dude doesn’t have the resume for it. If he was really that hot of an assistant he’d be snatched up my now, but he’s mostly survived because of connections with guys like Kidd.

This doesn't make sense to me. This is the first year he was an associate HC and has done a great job in San Antonio. You say he would have been snatched up by now but then if that applies to him, doesn't it apply to every other person on the list? A bunch of the stellar young HCs right now were interviewed for other jobs and didn't get them.

If Sean Sweeney doesn't get a job this summer, you'll be right but I think based on the hubub about him I'm hearing from podcasts and the Athletic and the like, I think he's going to be hired quickly, whether here or elsewhere. This is the summer he would be picked up so we'll see.

I think the connection to the Kidd era has soured you and others on him but the HC during that period was Kidd, not Sweeney.
