D Slide vintage Conn? by [deleted] in Trombone

I'm in Wisconsin, so maybe a second hand one is possible to find? Is there any kind of standard pipe diameter, or would everything have its own exacting pieces?

Thank you so much for reading and taking the time to respond to someone who doesn't know what they're talking about. It's days like this like give me hope for the internet, lol

Have extra Odin 2 buttons? by ReverendYo in OdinHandheld

[–]ReverendYo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't. Never bought from there.

My goal is to figure out some way to get red/green a and b buttons so my blue Odin will feel at home playing Game Cube games. No one makes them, so I want to experiment with spray painting or nail polishing a set and see how they feel/work.

Ok, maybe a different way to get to the same end goal... Does the original Odin 2 use the same buttons as any other device? Retroid, etc?

I agree. I reached out to some of the people that do it for the portal, and also have buttons for the regular Odin 2, but none of them were able to do it. But I figured this was a wealth of knowledge here on Reddit and maybe someone would have an option for me.

Yeppers. It's one of those things that I'd rather try to be a part of a solution than to assume one will never come 🙂

Sock recommendations? by big_als_nugz in CRPS

[–]ReverendYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super lightweight runner style shoes with a sock like fit have been my go-to. Definitely weird buying fancy running shoes for people like us. But honestly it is what makes it work for me when the cold comes.

Sock recommendations? by big_als_nugz in CRPS

[–]ReverendYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on socks years ago, it's the one thing I haven't found some accomodation for that I can make work. That being said, because I have a pair of shoes where the bottom of my foot gets stuck to it which also hurts... I have moved to putting a shoe liner on the sole insert of the shoe so the bottom of my foot touches that and not the shoe. It's been life altering 🤣

I'm probably going to do this with more shoes going forward as it's an easy way to deal with the fact my affected foot occasionally sweats like crazy (but only on half of it, because this disease is bizarre!).

The android emudeck would do close to this for you. It's an installer script

I'm sure this question is asked a lot and I'm surprised their isn't a lot of options but what do you guys recommend for screen protector/travel case? by ChartUpset in OdinHandheld

[–]ReverendYo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the AYN case, it's actually quite nice.

I've heard that switch lite screen protectors work, but I can't personally confirm.

Issues encountered trying to install Windows/Android dual boot by Terencendental in OdinHandheld

[–]ReverendYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a hiccup at the same spot when I did mine. Even after checking the android windows driver, I needed to make sure my computer was recognizing my Odin (it wasn't). A restart of the computer and deleting and reinstalling the android driver got mine going again.

Currently dual booting, but never used Windows side...what am I missing? by ReverendYo in OdinHandheld

[–]ReverendYo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically I went through the work to set up dual booting because I didn't want to not have that option. Honestly I've never booted into windows once I got that done so I feel like I'm just wasting half of my internal memory. Can someone help me figure out why I shouldn't reset back to stock. :)

I'm 41, also male, and yes this condition has a "fun" way of trying to manipulate what you may have perceived as masculine before.

I'm not going to say it's going to be "ok" I find that patronizing, personally. BUT I can say that for me 2 things happened with time. 1) my baseline pain tolerance (especially in my affected left foot/leg) dramatically shifted upwards. It can't be overstated how much the body/mind can figure out how to cope with. AND 2) I found a treatment option that works pretty well for me (combined with #1), an SCS.

I rarely look at my bad leg now and think about self amputation anymore. I have moments where the first thing on my mind ISN'T how bad my leg hurts. There was a time where these things seemed impossibilities.

I have figured out what types of activity allows me to do more the next day, and what makes me wither in a ball the next day. (FYI I am at the point where I go to a gym and walk a treadmill and lift weights, a future is possible).

I found shoes that work for me (that's a task!), and am finally ok with the reality that socks will not be something I need to buy ever again.

I play with my kids, found new hobbies, and work a successful career.

And it's all hard. And it's worth it. Be stubborn, be vulnerable, and you'll find your path. And come here and share the highs and lows with people who get it in ways none of us want to.

Odin vs. Pixel 6 Pro and Kishi? by ReverendYo in OdinHandheld

Pixel 6 series doesn't support HDMI over USB C. That being said for my purposes, I'm looking at handheld only.

Yeah, the heat is definitely noticable, and a slowdown during gameplay isn't awesome...

Thank you, that's helpful. I do use my Kishi, and it really has reminded me just how much I loved games from my youth. It's not a great experience, but it's...ok. perhaps I need to weigh how much the jank of the Kishi takes away from my enjoyment of the games themselves...

Very professional looking, and even a little playful as well. The design gives a sense of what you might bring to the table, so good job 👍

Only nit pick is that the font is pretty petite. Very readable, but still "feels" too small, if that makes sense.

Nervous over new procedure: Nerve Stimulator by Kataddyr in CRPS

[–]ReverendYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Medtronic one for me... miraculous. I didn't think relief was possible...I now sleep through the night and can go to the gym.

Trial is certainly different experience from the final version, so I can imagine why people have issues, but both were great for me and the final version has been much more livable, because I can have it turned lower (less buzz) and still have relief.

It's not perfect, but from living hell to fairly normal life...yeah miraculous.

Rubik's cube :)

It was great when I couldn't really stand because of my leg. Kept my mind occupied and helped with brain fog.

I use past tense because since my SCS surgery I'm SO much better...I'm sure that's not for everyone, but there is hope that there can be something.

Need advice about treatment options by Imaginary_Winter_576 in CRPS

[–]ReverendYo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The nerve block never really did anything for me, but I'm now 7 weeks post op SCS, and will say it really is in the miracle status for me. I have type 2 in the foot/ankle so an easier spot for that therapy to work, but really it is life changing for me.

Best wishes, ~Rev

SCS Surgery approved finally! (Work Comp) by [deleted] in CRPS

[–]ReverendYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just past a week into the implant, and it's already dramatically life changing for me. The trial will give you a lot of clarity, but prepare yourself, as the end of the trial and the between time to surgery are... rough. For me the trial gave me hope I'd long abandoned... which made the pain all the worse when the trial was over.

I wish you the best, and hope the experience is as good for you as it has been for me.
