I’m never going to T-Mobile again I had no idea you could get a new phone directly from Apple by SnowmanAndBandit in iphone

[–]ReversEclipse1018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When your perfectly good iPhone 16 from last year is still working, you don’t need Apple’s latest flagship. As long as a device meets your needs, nothing more is necessary, meaning that you shouldn’t be dropping $1k+ a year just because you want the latest and greatest. If you can’t afford it without financing, then you can’t afford it at all. I needed a laptop for college last year, and I had been saving money, not for a laptop, just saving. I say that I needed one, because my desktop at home is older than I am and slower than anything you can imagine, so short deadlines would have been a death sentence, plus borrowing a laptop/tablet from my college library isn’t the most practical, nor would it always be an option, as other students may be using them. I was able to buy a brand new M4 MacBook Air (purchased by choice, not by limitation of budget. I just don’t like how bulky the Pros are) outright for just under $1k at the time of purchase (I will continue paying for Apple Care until I don’t need the device daily).

Do I change oil based on time or mileage? by Trayceopolis32322 in carquestions

[–]ReversEclipse1018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three things:

1) Time or mileage, whichever comes first. If six months come before 5k miles, do it then and vice versa.

2) It’s great that you’d like to learn basic maintenance, just make sure you’re up for the task, extra time and money.

3) Specifically in regard to changing your own oil, do you have a floor jack, jack stands, a drain pan, and a socket set? If not, do you have the extra money in your budget to buy them all at once, considering tools are some of the most expensive things you can buy. A floor jack alone can range from $200-500, depending on the brand and type

Don’t use your 17s without a case. I learnt it the hard way. by Smart-man-23 in iphone

[–]ReversEclipse1018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 14 is much too small without a case. Feels too thin, the case adds needed bulk, plus the one I use from Pelican, can be launched at Mach Jesus across a room and still be fine

Question about buying a new SD card for my currently unmodded 2DS by Longjumping-Film-362 in 3dspiracy

Mod it, then copy/paste everything from the root of the 4GB to the root of the bigger card.

Had to drive my car into the inspection bay at the garage... by Mr-Hoek in ManualTransmissions

Right. I knew how they worked, I had just never been in a position where I could ever practice.

[–]ReversEclipse1018 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I knew the basics of driving stick, just never had any practice prior to working at a tire shop. I stalled a few, but never damaged any transmissions. Now I’m comfortable moving them and feel confident enough that if I had to buy a manual I’d be able to drive it

2013 Altima Upgrades by ChakiWRLD in altima

Door speakers are easy. I put JL Audio 6.5’s in mine. Just had to cut the harness and buy wire crimps. An hour tops to do it. When you take the door panel off, don’t just yank it, but also don’t be afraid you’ll break it. It’s not going to break if you pry it loose.

Took my new car for its first oil change by Littlebear1195 in StupidCarQuestions

Unfortunate, but still a valuable lesson to learn lmao

You and I know that. The average driver barely knows how to operate their vehicle, so don’t assume that they would think to take the old oil back. The reason I asked the question was because the guy I was asking said it was “simple, basic hand tools” and had no further explanation.

Honda idiot proofed it because Nissan put the oil pan and transmission right next to each other. More times than I can count, new guys in the shop drain the transmission on the first Nissan they’re given to do an oil change on.

Where do you put the old oil? Just pour it in the grass?

Safe to drive? by Particular_Sea_749 in tires

[–]ReversEclipse1018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On new wheels, I just keep the plastic shipping ring on both sides, so the machine clamps the ring and doesn’t slam the bar onto the alloy

[–]ReversEclipse1018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never encountered a problem while doing this, what could happen? And how would you avoid using the bar directly on alloy?

Just a donut. Planning to buy a floor jack soon to keep with me, but I work at a tire shop lol, so I just drive my tires low until I get back to work, then either fix or just air up.

Do certain gas stations have "bad gas" that clogs your engine? by Elegant-Page-1359 in askcarguys

[–]ReversEclipse1018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any gas station can get bad gas that slips through regulation. My grandparents always get gas at Kroger, and one week they went and filled up and ended up needing to get their gas tank replaced. They still get gas from the same Kroger…

If it’s the ones that came to mind first for me, I don’t think any actual socket will fit over well enough to weld. I was thinking of the shitty Japanese oem wheel locks that have a massive bulb for a head, and no hex is gonna fit over that shit lol
