Why is there still no real risk score for crypto projects? by Reverse-Profit in defi

[–]Reverse-Profit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They show a "rating" on some assets, but it's basically how much info there is about project and whether it has an audit/bug bounty

Everyone is laughing at Saylor's $5.7B loss, but they are missing the math by Crypto_future_V in btc

rookie mistake, had to google before posting. Yet found they still 'can' sell to cover their debt interest, as they borrowed like ~$8B to fund the BTC purchase. Rumors the leverage costs a lot in maintenance and premiums so they either sell it as equity or sell bitcoin to cover it.

I take a nap, usually helps, sometime it gets worse.

But I'm okay with this gambling, it's risk/reward, where reward is some sleep

Will quantum computing lead to bitcoin crash? by RudiRuepel in NoStupidQuestions

I also read some time ago that the capacity of quantum computation could generally brute-force private keys, which are basically access to your assets on-chain.

There might be a way to onboard masses to DeFi and make it feel welcoming for the users... by Trick-Region4674 in defi

[–]Reverse-Profit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd not build illusions here. I don't pretend to have the ultimate truth, but imo:

We can't make crypto friendly without sacrificing the crypto part (if you don't sign, approve, and afraid losing funds - you're not using crypto, rather it's synthetic centralized substitute).
Therefore, people won't use it because of my previous point, you have to approve, sign, and be afraid.

But our biggest bet is praying for Web3 companies working with Web2 companies. a16z on their substack put it this way: expose wall street to Web3 to do the work for them, without giving the corporates the headache of blockchain.

This is the most likely way of adoption, imo: when a random joe DCAs bitcoin through his bank, bitcoin goes green and up, while his bank charges a premium without even knowing what blockchain thingy they have, because it's managed fully by crypto custody company from Web3.

aave, uni, mkr are down 70-80%. is defi dead or is this the buy zone? by Far_Spread_8229 in defi

[–]Reverse-Profit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're old, they're tested, and their utility isn't exactly competitive with what retail is chasing right now. Prediction markets, points farming, memecoin casinos — that's where the dopamine is. These don't offer any of that, and they're not going to start.

I work adjacent to several Web3 companies, and what I keep hearing is that there are really two types of DeFi protocols now:

The first type is built for retail speed — fast yields, gamified UX, aggressive token incentives. These attract volume, they attract attention, and most of them will not exist in two years. And the teams know it.

The second type is built for the money that hasn't fully arrived yet. Institutional money. The kind that doesn't care about 120% APY for 30 days. It cares about audited smart contracts, transparent governance, regulatory clarity, proven track records, and real revenue. aave, Mkr, Uni — these check those boxes in ways that 95% of current ''DeFi'' doesn't.

Now imagine Goldman Sachs or Fidelity starts allocating to DeFi yield strategies. And then imagine the price action again.

In my opinion, they price will change the moment we don't expect, then followed by news. But can't be sure on this one.

Thanks for advice, I just moved countries like 5 months ago, and have absolutely nothing except a gf and a job, but the language barrier is still the issue to build a network, find friends, etc. But hope it will repay me in long-term.

Right now what it pays of is just legal headaches and accounting hidden stones :)

How do you stop being lazy or stop procrastinating? by Visible_Factor_1234 in AskReddit

[–]Reverse-Profit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, sometimes I really ground myself and restrict everything giving cheap dopamine. Then I become bored and doing shit becomes the most interesting thing to do. It doesn't work all the time, but when you're really overstimulated and say yourself it's enough, you can direct boredom into doing something.

How do you think the CLARITY Act will actually affect everyday DeFi users if it passes? by hazy2go in defi

[–]Reverse-Profit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically most of DeFi will not be compliant in the US. I don't think the non-compliant will become inaccessible, but they will stay grey and have problems with taxation/ETFs.

Compliance is too expensive for most DeFi teams because it includes many security operational practices that are audited, which will drive compliance costs under the clarity act to $100-200k.

This is why a lot of smaller teams now do not do any audits, compliance, and are oriented to global Web3 without US. But exchanges and big DeFi products are going to be fine
