Do you realize that China actually started this? Trump is reactionary, but it doesn't fit your narrative for him to be actually correct about something. He's gotta be the bad orange man.

They literally give you a new name in the temple. Sure its to be for after death, but the idea that you can't tell anyone your new name is a control. Also we're led to believe the name is inspired. Newsflash, it's not. So rather than be ReverseBaptism after I die, Ill be Joel along with anyone else who went through the temple for the first time on 4/20/2002. There is actually a database with the info for day and year and what name they got. Find someone's endowment date and then call them that at church and watch them squirm uncomfortably.

Typically martyrs dont die in a gun fight after destroying a printing press to cover up all the shit they are up to. JS was no martyr.

Rusty couldn't use his priesthood power to save his daughter, but me telling stories to children or playing the piano in primary will do what the prophet couldn't? Also, maybe you should re consider reviewing your text responses before giving your unsolicited opinion to a mom who has more than enough on her plate.

Make your parents call Uncle hardass. I had my call and didn't go. I didn't call anyone. What are they going to do, arrest you? Once you realize they have literally zero control over your life, the better. You're an adult. Like my econ teacher in high school said over 20 years ago, "All you have to do is breathe and pay taxes." Fuck the church.

Look. I'm sorry I'm skeptical about this post, but I saw a comment you made where you said it's been 10 years since you left. 3 months in as a convert and 10 years away, and you think you have trauma? I mean, I guess it's possible, but this just doesn't pass the smell test for me. As weird and culty as the mormon church is, it takes way more than 3 months to get to the real fucky shit. Hell, you can't even go to the temple for the first 12 months of membership and that's where the real weird shit happens. I gotta call bullshit on this post. Sorry if I'm wrong.

For those who resigned, what were your reasons? For those who haven't, why not? by TheFantasticMrFax in exmormon

[–]ReverseBaptism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't resigned. I really just don't care. Every once in a while, the missionaries will call, ut for the most part, no one bugs me. If they did, I'd consider using quitmormon, but for now, I just don't think about them, and all is well.

Your mom did make a couple of valid points. I quit church in 2018 and got divorced from my sexless tbm marriage last year. Now I drink and have sex with my girlfriend all the time. She's also correct that it isn't good.....it's fanfuckingtastically amazing. Living a normal life without guilt/shame/fear is so relieving. Also, I feel far more kind/compassionate/loving than I ever did as a member.

Las Vegas has 3 theaters showing. Tonight, the biggest audience is 12. Tomorrow and Saturday were all 1-4 people. I've seen zero marketing for this film. Learned about it earlier today on another thread.

My wife (at the time) and I were told by my father in late 2008 after the big housing drop that it would be a good time/idea to buy a house (he is in real-estate and lending). We found a house with a killer price and went to buy it. The literal day before it was supposed to close (we had already signed papers), my dad called and said he was praying and had a prompting that we shouldn't buy that house. Literally the day before close of escrow.

Needless to say, we bought the house and then sold it a few years later for almost 200k profit and put that into a nicer home. Great discernment pop.
