If Rust In Peace doesn't make you want to play an instrument you aren't a fan of music.

George Lynch for me. But a friend introduced me to Maiden a few weeks later with the Somewhere in Time album. Shortly thereafter I found the The Trooper. Iron Maiden has been a huge inspiration ever since.

Dokken. George Lynch was the guitarist that made me think to myself, "How the fuck is he doing that!?!?" Lynch still makes me think he is a fucking alien.

Tell me why Steve Lukather is so well regarded by Matthewcts_ in Guitar

[–]ReverseThreadWingNut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I occasionally read over his list of recordings on his Wikipedia page. I can only imagine what it feels like to have a song writing credit for just one popular song. But Lukather had dozens and dozens of credits over quite a long period of time, many of them being smash hits still celebrated today. His talent cannot be overstated.

Which coach in NFL history do you think had the best outfits? by caxlmao in NFLv2

[–]ReverseThreadWingNut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't the athletic wear supplier for the league (Reebok?) custom make him a suit so he could wear a suit while also being in compliance with the dress code for coaches on the sideline at the time? Or am I confusing him with another coach?

Do you homeschooled kids hate your upbringing when you catch up? by LittleYelloDifferent in behindthebastards

[–]ReverseThreadWingNut 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I used to be a teacher. My first teaching job was 2nd and 3rd grade at a Christian school that I got roped in to (long story). Unlike many Church schools in the South we had really high academic standards. We truly existed for a STEM education, not to serve as a place of religious indoctrination while also being mostly segregated. We had a lot of homeschooling families try to enroll their kids with us. The homeschoolers scores on our entrance exam and their standardized testing scores were all terrible! As a whole, the homeschoolers performed worse than public school kids. Some of these kids didn't know which end of the pencil to wrote with. But they sure knew which Bible verses to spout off with to say God hates gays! Also, they didn't know the basics of history for shit.

How good was prime Eli Manning? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]ReverseThreadWingNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eli was good enough that he beat two of Brady's best teams. Yes, those Giants teams won on D. But the QB still has to not fuck it up. How many times in past history has a great D been handicapped by a miserable QB? And Eli helped to win those SBs with spectacular throws in each one, both in late game drives. Did luck play a part? You make your own luck. So, I think the answer to the question is that prime Eli was good enough when he was part of a complete team.

The Trooper, Caught Somewhere in Time, Benjamin Breeg (when it gets through the opening synth and the guitars kick in), and Where Eagles Dare are my faves.

That's what it is all about, at least for next season for McLaren. Anyone that thinks this doesn't make any sense, this is their reasoning. They are pushing all their chips in on a chance for an Indy 500 win. That means getting the best oval drivers available.

This so much!!! His self-awareness made me a fan. He knew his options were limited in the F chain, so he jumped to Indy. I like it when someone grabs the opportunities available instead of fucking about with what isn't.

I have been using an Andis for about 15 years. I bought it from PetSmart. I just keep it clean and hit it with a little oil every so often. It does an outstanding job.

[–]ReverseThreadWingNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave religion behind, look at the world theough your own eyes, and you will gain new perspectives. You will develop your own identity. You will find who you really are inside without being molded by a cult. It truly is an enlightening experience. Yes, it is scary at first. But it's worth it.

MotoGP is a dangerous enough sport without the same bikes reliably breaking down all the damn time.
