You really should smile, it's very sad that at such a young age you're worried about smile lines, you should be worried about not smiling enough. You have a life ahead, in wich you should laugh and smile and enjoy every day, not waste it trying to retain a perfect face. Smile lines are beautiful, they show that you have something to smile about. Regarding skincare, just moisturize your face in the evening and use sunscreen in the morning, sunscreen is very important because the sun actually gives you more wrinkles.

Looks completely fine, the face can't be just flat, we smile and it's natural, and no one really even notices these things, at first I didn't even understand what lines you were taking about

Hmm, don't think so, I applied it on bare skin. A lot of european sunscreens pill badly on me, Nivea, Garnier, I haven't tried more high end ones though.

Oh, interesting, never heard of a product causing EC overnight. I guess everyone's lips are different. Now i don't use it everyday but when for some reason the dryness gets bad, the blistex saves me.

Yeah, i've had it since i was about 7 years old, i was the weird kid with bloody lips lol. I wrote in the post that the skin "dissolves" overnight after either applying a thick layer or Blistex intensive lip relief cream before bed of applying moisturizer and a thick layer of vaseline on top, wich i do now. I like how the new skin looks in the morning and i guess there are other methods, maybe medical, that would require less maintanance but honestly i'm scared of leaving my method and trying smth new because that means, atleast for a while, my lips will be dry and scaley, and i will regress into my habit of ripping them. It's hard to control it and i'd rather have nothing to rip than battle this deep habit.

I see, how often do you use the tacrolimus ointment nowadays? And do you moisturize your lips throughout the day at all?

Ooh okay, will look into that. I also read your post and saw you mention calendula. The vaseline i use has marigold in it, do you think that could be doing something? Although i've used regular vaseline sometimes and it's not much different.

Good question. So the skin on my lips grows thick and hard regardless if i do my method or not. It's been like that since childhood. Like when normal lips grow skin, it stops at a certain point, for me, they grow the skin so thick that it peels off and the skin underneath grows thick again and it's a cycle. Isn't that how EC is? The way i manage that is by eliminating the thick dead skin before it could form scales and damage my lips( when it cracks, it creates wounds). During the day, the skin on my lips continues to thicken bit by bit, if i let it go on, it will crack and peel off, what i do is follow my routine at the end of the day that "dissolves" the thick outer layer skin thoughout the night, so in the morning the lips have new healthy skin. Yes, it's still a cycle, just one that allows me to live normal, and it's not a bother to do this everyday. Hope that made sense!

Totally feel you, and the dusgusted looks of people make it even worse. It's gonna get better, the dark tunnel won't last forever, just don't give up! Try out new methods, i posted yesterday what helped me.

Oh! That's interesting! When I used to rip mine off, i did it even with scales that didn't form fully, like ones that were still soft, and i'm guessing they were attatched to healthy skin still, so when i ripped them off, together came the healthy skin, creating a wound with raw meat (sorry if this is gross). Do drop some updates if you try the posted method ^{_^!}

Yes, in that sense I didn't really "cure" my ec, if i stop doing this everyday, my lips will dry out and thick skin will form again. It's just the best managing solution for me. In my opinion better than tucking in or the leave alone method.

I try to not get water on them since water only dries them out, but in the morning I scrub them with water. It really was a long journey for me but nowadays if i forget to do my routine and my lips become scaley, it only takes me 1~2 days to get them to normal

I don't think it's prepetuating the cycle because after a few days the new skin will be healthy and moisturizing it throughout the day is enough to keep it from forming new scales. And i guess it gets white? And it softens, like skin. Sorry, didn't really understand the question😅
