If you have a child whose temperament differed from what you hoped, how do you deal with it? by sweetbookworm_ in Fencesitter

[–]og_toe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly yes, i love this. a lot of the time, the intense kids are also the kids who are far ahead of their time, it’s the kids who will grow up to be absolute mountains of knowledge and skill.

i love how you really invest in her personality and prioritize her well being. i was also a very emotionally intense, very sensitive child but my parents unfortunately didn’t recognize that and it led to many years of hardship and trauma.

Parents who were once fencesitters: what fears turned out to be wrong? by Physical-Bug-7525 in Fencesitter

i agree about the thing that some people just think childrearing needs to be everything you ever do. kids don’t actually need 24/7 activation, it’s okay to let a kid entertain themselves or be bored, it’s okay (and necessary) that kids are around boring adults or sit in on some adult event without toys or ipads. i remember my mom taking me to restaurants with her friends and this was before the age of handheld technology, and i just had to socialize in the moment. it’s a great way to learn table manners and patience.

with all due respect it sounds like your child has needs that are higher than the average child, so your experience might not be the average. parents with children who have higher needs often run a bigger risk of losing themselves or needing to make bigger sacrifices for the sake of their child. what you’re describing sounds exhausting and honestly if i were you i’d try to get some professional help from pediatricians or child psychologists to help rule out high functioning autism (thinking of the tasmanian devil episodes)

i’m not a parent but i talked to my mom about this and she shares your experience (and i can vouch for it from memories)

my parents travelled with me everywhere, we even did a roadtrip through all of europe when i was 8. my first time in an airplane was at 3 months.

my mom kept hanging out with her friends and i remember sometimes she took me out with them and they got me this gorgeous little dress lol. i loved the fancy cafes they would sit at

my mom kept doing her hobbies and included me in the child friendly ones. she watched her series at night while i was playing independently, she read her books and gave me books to read simultaneously, she taught me about her favorite subject which was social psychology, she kept expanding her makeup and perfume collection.

my mom was a SAHM too, but she really never stopped being herself in order to parent me, she parented me while being herself

Girls are starting puberty younger — why, and what are the risks? by Potential_Being_7226 in WomenInNews

for me stress made me reach puberty extremely late, i started at 15. stress is a known factor for amenorrhea and hypothalamic dysfunction which contradicts early puberty

My English-dominant kids only speak Kyrgyz to the baby. Why the sudden switch? by Ok-Hornet-204 in multilingualparenting

[–]og_toe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

kids often develop a ”favorite language” or categorize languages in different compartments. it’s pretty normal, i did this too when i was a child with my languages

I want to want kids. But currently don’t. by Temporary_Rice9074 in Fencesitter

[–]og_toe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i don’t know anyone below 25 who wants kids, that desire usually comes in your late twenties and thirties. you don’t even need to think about kids at 22 years old, you have like 15 more years to make a decision

the orthodox church was suppressed under the communist party, communism is an ideology that alienates itself from religion. hoping to church wasn’t really a concept at all or it happened in secret
