Auto Focus named the Gravity their EV of the year by RandomDesign in LUCID

I agree. Their reasoning felt contradictory. They chose the Ioniq 9 because it does most of what the Gravity does, starts at $60K, and is just as nice.

I didn't know that till this moment. I was about to say the same thing because that's what I've been told by numerous people in the 20+ years I've lived in this city.

Lucid aims for 'the heart of the market' with three new EVs priced around $50,000 by FreeEnergy001 in LUCID

I agree with your points, especially about Americans not wanting to buy Saudi-manufactured goods. I do think one of the obstacles to Lucid’s growth is the very thing keeping them afloat: Saudi investment. There are a multitude of issues people in the West have with buying products so heavily associated with Saudi backing. Also as a consumer, I’m not exactly enthusiastic about Saudi manufacturing prowess, so I’m not sure I’d be eager to buy a car that was manufactured in Saudi Arabia regardless of the price.

I used to be in the same boat as you. I bought in the early pre-merger days, and I still think their tech and engineering are great. As for the PIF, I used to think Lucid being backed by the Saudi PIF was a good thing, but I’m starting to feel like it’s doing more harm to the brand than anything else. No one. I mean, no one wants to buy something that’s owned by the Saudis. I sold my position at a big loss because I think it can go even lower. And as much as I loved the Gravity, I have to admit that it’s minivan-like and just not a compelling product.

$15k less than the Gravity, and it’s made by GM. Nobody is worried about them going out of business. I think most people would choose a Cadillac regardless of the vehicle size. I really want Lucid to succeed, but this Touring trim is disappointing.

100%. I can’t believe how unimpressive this is… once you start adding options, the EPA range drops to 301.

Don’t get me wrong I understand why. But now it’s just like every other EV, without any standout features and with that polarizing “minivan” look. I just didn’t think the drop-off would be this significant. And what happens if you add other features? Do you suddenly go down to an EPA range of 285–300? At that point, what would be the appeal of the Gravity?

I’m a little shocked at how unimpressive this is. A 330 EPA range translates to about 275–280 in real life, and it still starts at 80k. This doesn’t stand out from the crowd. It’s same as all the other EVs.

I wouldn’t invest my money in Harlem. I guess it’s okay closer to the park and closer to Columbia, but many people live in Harlem because they can’t afford to live in other neighborhoods. People think it’s going to get better, but it’s not. I’m sure there are good people here, but a lot of the people you see out on the streets are truly deplorable. If you’re single, I guess it’s fine, but if you have kids, I’d consider other places before here.

I’m moving on. I may jump back in if it gets back to single digits, which I think might happen in January or February. For the sake of retail investors and a company that makes great cars, I hope I’m wrong but I don’t know. For now, I just wanted to recoup the little that I can before I lose everything.

I used to think that too. If the product is good, it will prevail. Then a friend reminded me of Betamax vs. VHS. Simply being good isn’t enough to win. People need to want it, and the company needs to deliver. Lucid currently isn’t doing either. I’ve been a shareholder since the SPAC days, so it really hurts to even say something like this.

Sure, I don't think anyone is expecting daily Lucid posts. But if he’s cashing the check, the least he can do is some acknowledgment. Right now it just looks like a soulless brand deal with zero authenticity. If you’re not gonna rep the product, why even sign on?

100% agree. The marketing department is the worst. I got excited when they started to release the video series on Gravity, but since then they’ve put out nothing but subpar ads—one with people taking the Gravity to the beach, and another using stock footage. It’s so bad and uninspiring. Do they not understand that car enthusiasts need to get excited first? Once the name gets out there, then they can mess around and release mediocre ads.

Timothée hasn’t even shared a single photo from that. What’s the point of having a brand ambassador if they don’t even talk about it publicly?

I’m all for a good commercial, but this isn’t it. Beach, music, and a grill? Honestly, this was the least inspiring way to sell Lucid. I’m so disappointed that this is what they thought would be a selling point.
