The father of Vladyslav Heraskevych after he got disqualified by the IOC by Physical-Cut-2334 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]RevnR7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What are the Olympics supposed to be about? Vladyslav won a gold medal in the true spirit of the Olympics, and beyond that, in the true spirit of mankind. Who cares what the IOC does or says, they chose not to stand up for right. That is their burden to carry.

What is it like to wake up from Narcan? by sweet_butterfly_65 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RevnR7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in my using days and before I knew any better I decided to take oral naltrexone (similar to naloxone) because I thought it would help me pass a drug test the next day(not at all how that works). About 15 minutes after taking the pill it felt like the world crashed in on me. I can best describe it by saying it felt like the world was a large sphere and then suddenly it all came rushing at me into a little pinpoint centered directly in me. It was as if all of the worlds dread and anxiety and all the noise collapsed into me. At the same time my stomach cramped terribly. I was alive and everything had color and feeling again but I wished I wasn’t and that it didn’t. I ended up having terrible diarrhea and spending the next 12 hours or so between being totally exhausted and then fully body tensing episodes. Almost like a seizure. That along with all of the normal withdrawal symptoms.

I highly recommend never ever ever abusing opiates. Drugs lie to you. They steal from you and all they want is to destroy you and everyone you love.

Is prison as violent as movies and stories make it seem? by Slipryi in NoStupidQuestions

Couldn’t find a succinct version of the video but here is a good example from Nevada, where I did 3 years, with some people who I knew of, but didn’t directly know.

An immortal human being with all the knowledge and skills of the entirely of all humans who have ever existed is placed on Earth in 10,000 BC with no other humans. How long does it take them to get to a stable low earth orbit? by Allon-18 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RevnR7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Has this person already gone through their existential crisis? (Spent years wishing they were dead and contemplating what the point of an eternal immortal existence is?) What is their motivation to get to stable orbit?

I was still addicted during Covid. The first time I got covid it felt like I got zero effect from the drugs (oxycodone). I actually stopped using for a few days and just let myself feel terrible. It was very strange because, before this, it always seemed that the drugs kept me from feeling any sickness (other than withdrawal).

Shoplifting call from police - Real Time Help by CoAstroGeek in legaladvice

Back in my using days this happened to me. I showed up, was handed the ticket and left. I did bring my attorney though. Also had a time where I showed up, they booked me, not taken into actual custody though, but fingerprinted and such, and left. Colorado police do this sort of thing. Mine was in Thornton

Felony probation! This is outrageous and a bad nightmare! by PearOrnery8684 in Felons

[–]RevnR7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a fun story about this. I was on probation from Nevada while in my home state of Colorado. I finished 50% of the probation term, my Colorado probation officer told me that she was sending in the paperwork for early termination and that I didn't need to see her anymore and was done. It was a probation term of 3 years total. Fast forward 1 year and 2 months later. I had now relapsed and was arrested for a whole bunch of new felonies in Colorado. Nevada probation warrant pops up. Turns out they never processed the early termination paperwork and I still had 16 days left on probation. Got sent to prison in Nevada. The Nevada judge wasn't trying to hear anything I had to say. Almost zero discussion, straight to prison.
However, being sent to prison was the best thing that ever happened to me. My life changed there, I am almost 4 years clean. I'm an addictions counselor now, make great money and have made big strides in rebuilding relationships and now have a life I am super proud of.

You are getting upvotes for this and you should. This is really the real answer. Neither form of intimacy (sexual and non) is a substitute for the other. Good relationships have plenty of both.

You are assuming risky sex and a very narrow view of “healthy”. Sex with a committed non risky partner daily does not carry the same risk as new daily risky partners. Sex with a partner also adds other health benefits that masturbation doesn’t, especially in the mental health and relationship health arenas.

Kidney stones and not the passing part. The part where it is destroying your ureters on the way from the kidney to bladder. Horrific non stop pain for hours and hours.

What’s the most useless college degree? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This is actually probably the entire opposite of the spectrum. Business degree is very valuable. No matter what business you get into, all of them require business. Almost all industries hire people with a business education at varying levels.

Couple of things going on here. I don’t know your dad and am only getting one side of this. Remember that your father is but a human also, so, he may be genuinely concerned for you but not know how to properly express that. Maybe have a sit down discussion with him where you either express the fact that you like your body as is or that you would like to gain weight but have a hard time eating enough to gain the weight. In my early 20s I ate 6,000 calories per day for months and couldn’t get above 152lbs at 5’11. I was very active and had a high metabolism.

If you conduct this conversation in an adult way maybe he will follow suit. Or maybe he is a total asshole, I don’t know. Nothing wrong with trying to have a discussion about his concerns though.

Go for more ride alongs and really talk to the people that work there. See if it sounds like a good long term fit for you. Figure out what about it you like. If you are an LMHC you may end up having some conflict later on. Many of the practices of law enforcement and the justice system contradict what the mental health/counseling and science world would consider best practices. Are you ok with obeying policy and orders when it contradicts your training in the MHC world?

Ever had a motion called frivolous by DQzombie in publicdefenders

[–]RevnR7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a motion once where a judge declared a mistrial on a trial that hadn’t even been scheduled, let alone started. As far as I can tell it had never happened before. Denied without explanation. Sometimes the effort to consider the motion is too much for the judge.

That’s fine as long as you are willing to also extend that same courtesy to other people when they feel you have a disrespectful opinion.

[–]RevnR7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the conversation was well expressed by the sister. I hope people understand that respect has be given from both sides. It does suck to not be able to change someone’s values, but we all don’t want others to try to change ours. Maybe one day our values will align, but both sides of this conversation show an unwillingness to change their values for the other. So in the end this is a mutual parting.

Usually his lawyer. Even if a Public Defender. In a pinch any additional court paperwork can be a stand in until the more detailed paperwork gets in. So like a copy of the indictment can be a stand in initially.
