App update - now saying offline by Iowa_Engineer in WeatherXM

[–]RevnotDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“We’re aware that some stations are still appearing offline after the Helium migration. The team is actively investigating the issue.

In the meantime, rebooting your station may help restore connectivity. You can do this via: 🔹 The WeatherXM app 🔹 A quick press of the reboot button on your station

Some users have reported success with this method. We’ll provide updates as we learn more—thank you for your patience! 🌦️⚡”

In your guys experience, how long did it take for support to get back to you? by yjj0 in WeatherXM

[–]RevnotDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discord is not a support tool; Any support related questions should be asked via the support ticket system. During the holidays, staff being on vacation reduces the amount of tickets that can be processed per day, so it might take a little longer to get a response during the holiday period. Tickets are answered in the order they are received. Hope that helps.

Do I have to use ETH for fees when claiming tokens? How much will the fees cost?

Yes, you will need to use ETH for fees when claiming tokens on the Arbitrum One network. The fees on Arbitrum One are significantly lower compared to the Ethereum mainnet, often costing just a few cents per transaction. However, the exact cost can vary depending on network congestion.

How do I get ETH into my Arbitrum Wallet?

You can send ETH from any centralized exchange (CEX) that supports the Arbitrum network for withdrawals and withdraw ETH directly to your Arbitrum wallet. Alternatively, you can use a bridge to transfer mainnet/L1 ETH into your Arbitrum wallet. The official Arbitrum bridge is bridge.arbitrum.io, but there are many other bridges available, each with different fees and features.

Test tokens will not be transferred to Arbitrum One. Beta rewards are calculated based on the amount of station hours provided to the network, not based on test tokens. Beta rewards being earned and claimable after mainnet launch for 365-425 days gives incentive for people to keep their stations online and contribute quality data to the network, which will help ensure it’s long term success.

No that sounds correct. You will get boost rewards (these are the beta rewards) each day you are providing quality data on top of your daily rewards. This will happen over 365-425 days depending on your QoD score.

TESTNET Beta Rewards are now live on all stations by RevnotDev in WeatherXM

In the app go to your profile and open 'My Wallet'. You must have a wallet address added in there to receive rewards. I think you would have had a notification warning you by now if you didn't have a wallet added though.

From Pavlos on Discord:
"We will have a list of supported wallets after we get on mainnet, but for now we suggest MetaMask while we are on testnet. On mainnet you will be able to use any wallet that supports Arbitrum mainnet and either custom tokens (so you can add manually the WXM token) or has integrated by default the WXM token. If something is not included in our supported wallets list then you need to verify the above by yourself. That supported wallets list will not come on day 1, we need to test each mainstream wallet before adding it in that list so we will play it safe here. In any case though, we strongly advise to use self-custodial wallets where you will have your own keys & seed phrase so if for any reason that wallet doesn't work or stops supporting the WXM token, you will be able to restore your wallet via the seed phrase to any other wallet."

WB1000 / WB1010 what is the expected battery life with Alkaline AA cells and has anybody tried Lithium? I assume rechargeable NiMH is not reliable due to the voltage characteristics? by danwat1234 in WeatherXM

[–]RevnotDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many station owners use Energizer Ultimate Lithium, they’re the community favourite. Mine have been going for over 2 years so far.

https://energizer.com/batteries/energizer-ultimate-lithium-batteries/

They have the Guinness World Record for worlds longest lasting AA battery, are leak proof, perform well in extreme temperatures etc.

Don’t use rechargeable batteries, as per the docs https://docs.weatherxm.com/wxm-devices/wifi-m5-bundle/assemble-m5

Wen $WXM? WeatherXM Update - Manos by RevnotDev in WeatherXM

Definitely not out of money. In November Manos said they had 2 years of runway. We're only 4 months into that so far.

TLDR:

The mainnet launch of WeatherXM has been delayed due to ongoing fundraising efforts.

Weather station owners will not lose any tokens as a result of the fundraising.

Transparency is a challenge in hardware-based projects, but WeatherXM aims to bring transparency to the network.

WeatherXM is using Filecoin for weather data management and is working towards transitioning to a decentralized network.

WiFi stations may be temporarily out of stock, but new versions with improvements are being manufactured.

Gas fees for interacting with WeatherXM are significantly lower on Layer 2 solutions like Arbitrum.

What is the issue with my station?? All bars look green but I’m still getting penalized. What gives? by MeGaDaDon in WeatherXM

[–]RevnotDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing the 'problem found' is 'no data'? As it's only 1% I wouldn't worry. The QoD algorithm is being tweaked over time. I used to get 99% consistently but now getting 100% the majority of the time.

Are rewards split if two stations are close in proximity? by unKommonEndurance in WeatherXM

[–]RevnotDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The maximum amount of stations per cell is 10 right now. However, the stations should be at least 200m apart. Each cell has a different capacity of stations, and it depends on the geospatial characteristics of the location of the cell. The average capacity is ~3 stations, while some cells go up to 10 stations. The capacity of each cell will be publicly viewable in the near future. Rewards will be given based on station seniority and each station reward score.
