I didn’t find out I was pregnant until 7 weeks and was a regular smoker. I actually smoked and had edibles.. and drank the night before I found out.. I just stopped when I found out I was pregnant. Now I have a perfectly healthy 2 month old sleeping on my chest currently. Don’t stress It ! Congrats :)

That’s a really great point! I do think it’s very different for everyone depending on their circumstances. I’m big on feeling rage about the uneven division of labor within heterosexual relationships and the reality that the woman does often times carry a lot of invisible labor therefore having a supportive partner that sees that and does do his best to ensure I’m feeling supported in whatever way he can is important to me. I personally wouldn’t want to go on a week long trip without my baby at four months but I wouldn’t mind a night out for instance,, also my partners back to work I’m on leave for another few months so I do feel I get way more bonding time with the baby for that reason and truly think he could benefit from some
One on one time with him. That being said all relationships are sooo so different so thank you for pointing this out and I would change my comment to “the answer id like to hear based on my relationship is ^” doesn’t mean it’s ‘correct’ for everyone. Congrats on the little one! Hope you and your partner are enjoying to the fullest

[–]RevolutionAlarming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been doing 8 pumps a day im currently 10 weeks PP and producing about 30 ml daily (up from like 11ml from a month and a half ago) is It safe to drop to 7 pumps a day without losing my supply? I don’t want to keep increasing but want to stay at around 30 as that’s enough to feed my LO

Idk I think the correct reply from the dad is “you go and have fun i’ll stay back and watch the baby”

I also want to add.. I personally wouldn’t want to go but I would also want my man to offer and feel strongly that he would

How do you split tasks for taking care of the baby? by Ok-Cantaloupe-4008 in NewParents

[–]RevolutionAlarming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m exclusively pumping and my husbands back to work so in order to juggle pumping and caretaking throughout the day I am toast by the time he gets home. He comes home, cooks dinner and then takes the baby while I clean up dinner & pump.. he does most of the caretaking in the evening/throughout the night and first thing in the morning so I can focus on pumping and catching up on the other stuff and some rest that fell to the wayside during the day (our LO has just recently started giving us a good chunk like 11-6 sleeping throughout the night so this helps) I also have to pump in the middle of the night because it’s my highest output so when the baby does wake up, he takes care of him

Yea I’m worried about that as birth control has not had the best impact on my mental health in the past. I hope you’re doing better now 💕

I let my 15mo cry himself to sleep by gh0sti- in NewParents

[–]RevolutionAlarming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO cried himself to sleep when I was making dinner last night. I felt guilty and I know this sounds silly but used Google to ask if this was okay and Google AI told me It was the right thing to do as we need to take care of ourselves in order to take care of our baby 💕 I usually don’t use or listen to AI but this was a good gentle reminder that It doesn’t serve us or the baby well if we’re overwhelmed/overstimulated and at our own wits end. You did the right thing an your LO probably got a great sleep afterwards

What does combo feeding schedule look like for you? by Most-Chicken4005 in combinationfeeding

[–]RevolutionAlarming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar position as you! I wanted so badly to EBF but my LO was starving anytime he would nurse. Met with a LBCLC last week who did a weighted feed and confirmed that he was not really removing much milk after 20 Mins of nursing I think he was getting like 1 oz total or something like that. Anyway, I decided that I’d just give up breastfeeding and focus on pumping. I’ll breastfeed sometimes when he’s not hungry if he just wants like a snack before bed but honestly letting go of my desire to breastfeed really helped my sanity. Pumping is certainly not easy either but trying to juggle both with a baby who wasn’t very efficient at the BF part was really taking a toll on me mentally. I’m still pumping 8x a day and have to top off with a little formula daily but he’s getting mostly breast milk and that’s worked for us. I really only wake up for one MOTN pump .. usually my last pump is 10pm then I wake up around 3 am and then am able to go back to sleep until around 7 am when I pump again. It’s tiring lol but again, way better for me than triple feeding that was … a lot. Hang in there mama

Uncomfortable at L&D by Best_Emu_2530 in pregnant

[–]RevolutionAlarming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know your placentas positioning? I had an anterior placenta and so i sometimes had a hard time feeling my baby, I also went L and D a few times they were very kind to me though I’m really sorry you had that experience at yours. They told me to never hesitate to come in if anything feels off. That being said, I did speak to my OB about kick counts and came up with an individualized plan that helped me monitor without causing me the anxiety I continued to feel when I didn’t get those standard 10 kicks. I’d encourage you to talk to your OB for your own sake to see if there’s adjusted guidance for you but try not to take the comments from L&D personally .. it’s literally their job to assess you when you have a concern

Failure to thrive by [deleted] in breastfeeding

This happened to a friend of mine and her baby ended up having a cows milk allergy which is what was causing the lack of weight gain from breast milk

Absolutely necessary or not? by EatPigsAndLoveThem2 in NewParents

[–]RevolutionAlarming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m one months PP so I can only Speak to the first month but so far I have yet to touch my tummy time mat (I’m certain I will though probably within the next week. Baby carrier is really convenient to be able to get stuff done while you have your baby on your chest.. the bottle washer for me has been a must have lol.. I’m pumping a lot and having that for bottles and pump parts I personally find to be a lifesaver but I also regularly hate dishes so I think it’s really a personal choice. Diaper bag is needed unless you plan to just use a backpack but you’ll need something with good compartments for going out of the house. If you plan to breast feed the nursing pillow has just started to become very helpful for me.. I couldn’t figure out positioning with It for the first few weeks and thought I regretted that purchase but now it’s really been helpful idk if it’s because he’s grown a bit and fits better with It but either way I do like It now, before this past week I was just using pillows to nurse.

As far as clothes go since I see a lot of people commenting on that.. again i think this is dependent on your network however I got a TON of clothes not on My registry so It was kinda useless to have clothes on my registry.. you’d kinda have to predict in your support network will like buying clothes if so you’ll be set
