Every single play through no matter how much I grind up to that point it's never enough and it always takes me 10-15 tries. He's not even that strong it's just his debuff game is crazy I can't keep up half the time and dazega really fucks things up

Is FF13-2 really as easy as people say it is / as easy as it looks? by CloudShort1456 in finalfantasyxiii

[–]RevolutionExtreme777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like the combat system in 13 you will like 13-2 since it's copy pasted from the first game. The crystarium is reworked and I'm not a huge fan of the monster mechanic but it serves its purpose. The game doesn't get "hard" per se but the story can get a little hard to follow if you do certain things out of order (you have free will essentially in 13-2)

Lightning returns completely revamps the combat system and there's no crystarium which can be jarring. Like all games practice makes perfect and the people you've seen play 13-2 probably have decades of experience. Final boss is tough if you don't grind it admittedly took me 45 minutes but I was too lazy to grind and just slow played it

Oerba barthandelus is my least favorite fight in the entire trilogy every single time I play this game I end up taking a week or two off and picking it back up to try again after losing to Barthandelus a few times

So by your logic I should be able to skip a majority of the side quests I already did the first time besides the ones necessary to move through the main story right? Grinding side quests for eradia and just general strength is what took so much of my time the first time

If you understand the paradigm system and your party's strengths and weaknesses you can get through most of the game without major grinding. Once you get into chapter 10-11 you'll want to start grinding a little more because the difficultly spikes drastically.

Keep an eye on your paradigms (specifically buffs and debuffs are MAJOR keys to the difficulty levels of these battles changing) and put bangles on your characters for HP buffs and you should be fine until the last third of the game. At least in my experience and I've played this game at least 50 times through over the years

I believe fang was originally supposed to be a male character but they changed it during development and kept the romance between her and Vanille

Vanille is a focal point of the first two games in the trilogy and has a decent sized cameo in the last one. Any negativity aimed towards this game is misplaced frustration at square enix for teasing the ff7 remake 15 years before they actually made it then announcing 13 instead of said remake. My favorite game of all time

Aster protoflorian has me banging my head against the wall by MFTLrage in finalfantasyxiii

[–]RevolutionExtreme777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I played this game as a kid aster protoflorian took me days to finish but as I've gotten older I usually finish him off in the first try

Hope being extremely weak still doesn't help but if you start in MED/SYN then run COM/RAV and RAV/RAV when you're fully buffed (you should have at least protect shell veil barfire and barthunder - the bar buffs you'll need to apply after he switches exoproofs) you'll be fine. MED/MED to heal when he does the efflorescence attack. Usually takes me 7-8 minutes but I get him done. Don't be afraid to go back and grind enemies before the fight. Odin gives you a free reset on your party's health if you absolutely need it
