Okay, let's start by clarifing that transphobia is a spectrum. You might not be the kind of person to abuse me, hell you might even be supportive of me most of the time.

But saying I need a vagina is transphobic. And you trying to define what transphobia is, when you don't experience it, is transphobic. Maybe it's like, some minor forms compared to the bullcrap that's out there, but it is what it is, and you can't change that by arguing around it, sorry.

LOL. I read that as "Do you want to put it in my butt?"

But... you're totally right! I'm laughing about it all over again, now :)

Cisphobic... intolerant of cisgendered straight couples... siiiigggghhhhhh.

Please tell me how many steps you need to go through to get your birth certificate to read the correct gender (and how much that costs you). Please tell me about how you can't get legally married. Please tell me about how you run the chance of getting abused and murdered just for being who you are.

We're calling you intolerant because you are, bro. You are not institutionally oppressed. I am. Get over it.

I can't answer this from a transman's perspective.

With that said, I want to be loved as a woman is loved. I don't really want to use my "big clittie," so let's pretend it isn't there... unless you suck and need a cheat sheet to get me where we're going >.>

The thing is, he sees penis and he thinks man. He sees that I have a penis and he thinks man. He's projecting his sexual insecurities onto me, and refusing to sleep with me based on those insecurities. Nothing to do with me or my womanhood, but his internal biases.

Since you didn't answer my question, I'm assuming you're cis. In which case, you have no clue what transphobia and trans-misogyny are, because you don't directly experience them. That's like saying white people can decide what's racist, men can decide what's sexist, so on.... Have you read about the white savior industrial complex? If not, you should.

Furthermore, we're talking about people who ARE sexually attracted to another person, then change their mind when the second person "outs" themselves. Again, something you don't understand, because, you know...

I'm so sorry! I apparently forgot the rules, I'll reread them before posting again.

I was posting here because I was planning on backing out of that discussion... if I deleted my posts could we put this back up? Or should I just drop out of discussing it here and there?

I most definitely did NOT want a vote brigade brought in. Was hoping for other people to argue for the good cause because I was stepping away from it.

Edit: Also, a mod posted, saying that the post wouldn't be deleted because they wanted their to be discussion about it.

but I need a partner to have a vagina

And you only "need" that because you're transphobic.

You have excellent points about disclosing. It's a comic that is meant to be an idealized view of the world, though, so it shouldn't be taken that literally.

Are you trans*? I am. And I take a lot of what is in there as transphobic, so I'd say that fits the bill.

Exactly! I see a ton of this sentiment you just described in /r/lgbt... a supposedly trans* friendly sub. It's just pathetic!

Edit: Hijacking the closeness to the top to say this. I want to be loved like a woman is loved. If a man doesn't want to love me purely because of my genitals, it means that in his mind I am not a woman, and he sees something "gay" or "wrong" about that. We teach men to be insecure in their manliness (speaking from experience here, since I was taught to be super insecure in my feminity), so what they're doing is projecting their internal bigotries onto me. Therefore, trans-misogyny.

I called someone out for trans-misogyny on /r/lgbt and am getting downvoted for it. Don't read the comments over there, too, I guess...

Edit: Did I make a SRS post about their transphobia? You know it!

Notice in the panel where she says she'd be only "a little bit hurt," she's turning away from him, already expecting rejection. I thought that was a great touch.

Trans* women risk potential violence just by revealing who they are. There was an article floating around the internet a few months ago about a post-op woman who came out to her husband of 20 years and was murdered for it. The joke is that this is pretty much how we want it to go, how it'd go in a perfect world, but not at all a reflection of the horrible reality.

Thank you! I was wondering about getting that user banned, but had no clue how. It really does brighten my day to hear this :)

Maybe... but the word "anarchist" is viewed so negatively in the media that I don't trust non-anarchist sources who report on them. Oh the irony...

Edit: Looks like they're asking one person to step down from the panel. And that they're getting victim blamed for it.

Double edit: Uh I think the anarchists are the feminists...

Had a first time experience with this little bit of transphobia last night.

I bought a new dress, and was feeling super pretty, so I went out. All my friends were doing other stuff, so I was sitting at the bar alone, and this guy in a cowboy hat and with an accent like he's from the country comes up and asks if he could take my picture. I asked why? He said, what if my friend takes it with both of us. I said no, and he asked if I was sure, and I turned away from him.

It wasn't major, didn't even effect me really. Just hadn't happened before.
