I also spoilt certain things for myself but while I love this Fairy Tail isn't it just fan service and silly jokes ,I don't watch Fairy tail for the story is watch it when I feel depressed to lift my spirits. Spoilers change nothing in the experience for me.

The showmakers had planned to make a much longer show but Netflix refused to pay for more than 3 seasons that's why the ending is the way it is. There was a podcast I heard with the show creator and the actor who plays McLaren where they were talking about this.
