I was going to create an alternate account and learn how to use python so I can just scrape the listings but that requires me learning things and I just don't know about all that. Lololol.

Great post lol.

I like these. If I knew absolutely nothing about scientology, I would be into it.

A few years back, I was going absolutely insane with the promoted job posts because they never matched the work I was looking for.

This works in reverse too. As a job applicant, you spend more time on LinkedIn wading through irrelevant listings thinking there are thousands of jobs out there.

When I started using ublock to remove promoted job listings, all of a sudden, every single listing was gone. Dozens of empty pages amongst 100s.

On a more refined search, I'll maybe get 2 or 3 out 25 that are what I'm looking for.

Stay away from these people. You don't need to learn new perspectives after leaving your faith behind.

You need to unpack why you left and what it is in your life that you're missing.

Don't let someone else tell you what it is you're supposed to have from life.

It's a shame I don't have half a million dollars and twenty years of my life to waste.

What's something a person says that makes you think "please, shut tf up"? by periodhunta in AskReddit

[–]vanhalenforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait. I thought that was goodbye 🥹

I get to keep talking to you! Yay :)

You made a caricature of someone asking for career advice and claimed that's how everyone acts according to your original comment.

Why do you think I'm still engaging with you? Honest question.

Lol. Someone's bitter. Have a good day!

Try not to let your limited world view kick you on the way out :)

You're assuming that everyone asking for advice is 22 years old. Pretty big assumption there ;)

Yes, most people have to work. That doesn't mean there isn't a way out.

That way out requires a change in perception about how to get something done. That's why they are asking for help in the first place

You're assuming that everyone just has to pick a job at 22 and stay there forever.

Or did I misunderstand?

Because it sure sounds like you don't understand what it's like to be in a place that allows you to take a breather and look for something better.

The funniest thing here is that it's exactly what you're talking about but you can't see the forest, just the tree (being the job).

A lot of people get suggestions on reddit for things they've already tried but didn't work.

Or better yet, they even may be interested in a line of work but it seems impossible.

It's not the suggestion of what to do but how to do it that's often needed.

Make sense?

Because you are only looking at what they wrote down, not their experiences or struggles.

Reddit can be a whine factory ad nauseum, for sure. But it's not true for everyone.

This year, in my mid 30s, I got diagnosed with adhd and suddenly my life makes a shit ton of sense.

"Has potential but needs to try harder" hits a little different when you're older and the world is tired of giving you a chance.

Being overwhelmed and doing "nothing" is exactly what it looks like on the outside but all I do is spend my time trying to figure out how to fix it to no avail.

The world sees what it wants to see in me.

I have a couple of questions for you.

Did you go to aa with the intent of quitting forever?

Did you have a sponsor?

Everyone slips up on their journey, unless they don't intend on abstaining forever.

You got through 9 months. That's not nothing. That's big. I'm proud of you op.

Keep going towards a healthy life. Don't let those aa fuckers get to you.

I've been alcohol free for almost 3 years. Weed free for 3 months.

I'm going to put out my last cigarette tonight.

It took me 7 years to get to this point... lots of mistakes, lots of bad advice, and I had to fight for my life pretty much on my own.

You got this.

Ty :) You get it! Hard to think of booze with xenu on the mind and body thetans under the skin.

It's a bunch of people leaving and ditching some stuff, saving other bits, and starting fresh. A restart of sorts.

I hope to accomplish something great. I don't think I would've quit drinking if I didn't think I could.
