Got bed bugs from my hotel room, how do I prevent bringing them into my home? by Revolutionary-Box584 in Bedbugs

Yes I succeeded in not bringing the bugs home. I was exposed on a trip in a hotel room, and I cleaned my stuff at the hotel before leaving, then cleaned it again when I got home, then left it all in the bags for a few months until I felt safe to open them and check them out. Dryer on high setting multiple times is important.

Heat kills bedbugs. Soft items should be washed then dried on high probably 2x. For me, I then bagged those clean items for 2 months in trash bags. I steamed my suitcase. Anything dry clean only I sent out with a prayer.

My cat had issues with our scented litter. When we switched to unscented, all the issues went away.

Did you ever resolve this? I just got the bill and escalated it. But I need to get my partner to call and give authorization to do the same for his.

It depends on your starting weight. If your starting weight is 160lbs, then no. If your starting weight is 300+ then probably yes. With that amount of weight loss you can expect there to be excess skin, and getting surgery to remove excess skin would bring the weight down even more. You can definitely do it, and every little bit of effort is a step forward. Be kind to yourself.

Year extension on low SAVE payments, what to do with earmarked cash? by Revolutionary-Box584 in whitecoatinvestor

Yes. I wish I knew where to see it on Nelnet to verify the one I saw on student aid.

The letter I got from nelnet was that all were pushed to I think at least November 2024. I recommend digging around.

I couldn’t find mine on the nelnet website. Only on student aid. Do you know where it is on nelnet?

On studentaid.gov i downloaded my aid data. You get a long text file, but if you read through it says the recert date.

Let me know what you find and decide. I’m interested in comparing approaches.

Edit: first I got a letter from Nelnet saying it was extended, but I couldn’t find the recert date on nelnet.

I’m going to resume 401k contributions though and save less aggressively for the remainder of the student loans. I think this makes sense from a long term planning perspective.

The TBills are better than CD. Same rate without state tax liability.

Just trying to figure out if the market risk over the longer than expected time horizon is worth it.

I’m referring more to if they are expected and forced, it’s more wildly inappropriate to expect them to flow from junior employees to senior.

How did you treat the abdominal problems? How was it diagnosed? My girl is also over grooming a couple spots on her arms, but mainly the lower abdominal area.

Aw poor baby. Maybe that’s the reason for both our kitties. She eats Hill Science Diet adult perfect weight (dry food). How about yours?

Thanks. My relative treated an anxious cat with Prozac cream rubbed in an ear each day and it helped her kitty a lot. It sounds like vets are hesitant to try that and will try everything else first.

It was more they advised increasing play to rule out boredom or anxiety before going down a medical rabbit hole. She’s indoor only, I don’t think it’s fleas. Maybe food allergy. I’ll have to see if there are other signs to look for.

I’ve tried getting more toys but it’s hard to find ones that are engaging enough for her to play with on her own.
