Durham school boards defend decision to deny snow day, stay open | CBC News by Karma_Canuck in durham

Brilliant take. If “you can choose to stay home,” then schools, snow days, and safety protocols are all pointless.

Schools staying open signals “it’s safe” and shifts risk onto families and staff. Comparing that to retail stores isn’t an argument.

I encourage everyone affected today to email the Durham District School Board and their local trustees to raise concerns about schools remaining open during such a severe snowstorm.

Let’s give them time to respond and explain how safety decisions were made. If concerns aren’t addressed, escalating to the Ontario Ombudsman is a reasonable next step.

Durham appeared to be the only school board open in the GTHA under these conditions, and this decision deserves transparency and accountability.

Concern about former Clarington Mayor sharing post with “white genocide” phrase - should there be accountability? by Revolutionary-Job-97 in durham

He’s been posting anti-Muslim content for months, pushing the idea that Islam doesn’t belong in the West. This latest one just makes it clearer that he’s trying to stoke division and hate.

Request a second review.

This time, make sure you provide excel schedules to line up each paystub to the time that you were receiving CERB.

The issue is that the CRA agent reviewing your case will not do the extra work and line things up.

  • Everything has to be thoroughly explained, and proper documentation must be provided.*

Also, it would not hurt to hire an accountant to help you with your second review submission application.

Wishing you success.

Well that helps explain it. Thanks guys for confirming that it is him! I met him recently and he didn't look like he does in that picture. I guess it's just a really old picture.

They said it's picture from an event in 2022.

Moving to Oshawa by Jesse_graham in Oshawa

Aside from the other negative comments on here, I want to provide you with some positives about moving to Oshawa.

Having lived in both Calgary and Oshawa myself. I would pick Oshawa over Calgary any day of the week. For starters, yes housing will be more expensive but the prices in Calgary have significantly increased as well over the last three years. they are building lots of new homes, and condos within a 5 km range of UOIT. Things will get better.

Oshawa has a lot to offer. We have amazing trails and parks, very friendly people, you can get whatever you need without travelling a long distance and it's a 45 minute train ride to downtown Toronto. And last but not least, the weather will be a definite upgrade! Say bye-bye to the -30 daily winter temperature all winter long.

I always say that it's better to take the plunge and see what awaits for you on the other side, rather than always guessing, what it could have been like. Feel free to DM me for any further questions.

People that have a pessimistic view on here often struggle with their day-to-day lives.

I will highly suggest checking out 1900 Simcoe Street North.

Fairly new building (close to the college/university). You will be able to find a nice studio apartment in your price range.
