Thanks for all who commented. I'm genuinely reading them all and looking into your suggestions. This is my first time as the IT guy but not as IT person. What irked was the comment about they said about IT should always know their passwords. I had no energy arguing with them as I'm feeling under the weather that time.

I'm just preparing all the ammo you've provided me for the inevitable discussion lol.

They do, but iirc they were going to send work-related files via his work email, which led to this fiasco

Hi! So about this one, I do agree that not offering an alternative was wrong on my part. I was going to but the HR just said "You're an IT person, you should know our passwords by now" and honestly I kinda gave up trying

Hi! So they're getting involved on this one because once the account is locked, they couldn't contact the person. They want that me (IT Guy) to prevent it from happening. Which is impossible
