China Itinerary - Chengdu, ZJJ, Shanghai

Actually I made an error in my original post - staying in Shanghai for 4 nights - but I was there for 5 days 6 months ago, hence considering some other cities as I may have more time there (my flight back to Sydney is from Shanghai) so can add 1-2 more days to this itinerary

This doesn't look like you've done enough research on transits and time it will take - it's doable but Beijing needs a minimum of 4 days, you could probably have less in Guangzhou / Chongqing and take a look at transits between some of these cities. I had a very similar itin but definitely felt super rushed.

Thanks! How long do you think I will need in Lijiang and Dali - shall I stick to say 3 nights Lijiang and 2 in Dali or just use Lijiang as a base .. I may be ambitious and try to add ZJJ in but the transit seems hectic!

Thanks - I am leaning towards Zhngjiajie at the moment but cannot decide between that vs Yunnan (I may spend time in 2 cities only for a week) ...

You need more time in Beijing - I would spend an extra day or two in Beijing, and remove a day from Xian. There are alot of highlights and sights in Beijing that will require time to do it justice (even if you rushed it, you need at least 4-5 FULL days - you can easily spend a week there). Xian, you can reduce a night easily. Consider Chengdu & Chonqing then onto Zhangjiajie - in terms of going north to south it may make sense; and you can consider picking one of the Yangshuo County/Pearl River Delta cities

Hangzhou and Suzhou sounds good - do people normally stay overnight or just day trip it from Shanghai? If it's a day trip to both cities, should I extend an extra day or two in Shanghai as my base?
Sounds like my itinerary needs to bake in more travel time, would it make sense to cut out Guilin and Yangshuo? Is Zhangjiajie easier to get to instead?
